Delightful Tour of San Francisco

Extremely knowlegeable and enthusiastic, Collette guided us through Chinatown, Little Italy, North Beach....all the while providing us with tidbits of San Francisco history. We have lived in the area for over 30 years and still learned a thing or two. Walking through very interesting parts of the City on a beautiful day, made for a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Great way to explore San Francisco!

It's always better to explore somewhere on foot -- the Java Walk provides the enhancement of having a knowledgeable person lead you on the tour and share interesting history about the areas you're visiting. The pace and length of the tour were just right, and it inspired me to return to spend time in some of the stores and restaurants. I'd like to learn about similar tours in different parts of the city, too.

High praise from a local

The Javawalk tour was great fun and very informative. My husband and I are from the East Bay and received the tickets from family members who had a last minute change of plans. I had no idea what to expect, but love coffee and was able to get a day off work. The coffee was great, but what surprised me was how much we learned about San Francisco's history. My husband's grandparents (and great grandparents) lived in the North Beach area and I love watching the history channel. We thought we knew most everything there was to know; however our guide Nicole's knowledge far surpassed our own. I highly recommend this tour for both visitors and locals.

Though we have been to SF several times, this tour put the city in context like no other. We need to go back to follow up on all the great recommendations she gave us. Her passion for the city really shows through on the tour.

Not really a java walk

First 40 minutes spent in Chinatown going over history of city--we had just had a separate tour of Chinatown so were not happy to have a repetition. We went to 1 open coffee shop and had a drink; then walked to 2 other closed (!?) shops before going to one last open coffee shop for a small espresso dessert. I can't recommend this tour.

We got way more than our money's worth. Nicole was smart, nice and well-prepared. All four of us loved her! We learned so much about San Francisco, as well as enjoying some great java in interesting cafes. Highly recommend.

Parents and adult son and daughter in law who all have worked in sf and now live in Santa cruz. Learned history and saw sf in a new light. Loved the stop and the treat at the end...

Much better than a trip to the tourist meccas

If you're visiting San Francisco, you'll get far more out of this guided tour than an impersonal visit to the usual city tourist destinations. Well thought out, informative, and well-conducted. Budget about 2-1/2 hours and be prepared to walk (though it isn't at all exhausting).

Javawalk is a wonderful local tour that gives you an insiders view of San Francisco. Collett is extremely personable, and has an overwhelming amount of knowledge. She can talk about just about anything. Her small personal tour is definately the way to go!

Fantastic Tour

Nicole was our tour guide. We walked around Chinatown, Jefferson Square, and North Beach. She told us great stories, many of which you probably wouldn't read about or hear about anywhere else. She was also kind enough to let us know which spots would be great for dinner or a cocktail later, and which we should avoid. She didn't mind that we were a chatty group, and kept her much longer than scheduled. We loved the two coffee shops we stopped at. I actually stopped by one of them later in the day to get another affogado. I am now hooked! I also take a lot of photos, and Nicole didn't mind stopping multiple times along our route to let me take more pictures. This tour is a definite thumbs up...even if people in your group are not coffee drinkers. If you like history and great stories, you will love this tour.
