I only would have liked more of the neighborhood tour of Crown Heights's Hassidic community.

Extremely enlightening. Fascinating glimpse.

Such a fascinating glimpse into a culture 1000's of years old. I appreciated so much the willingness of the Chabad Lubivitch Hassidic group to open themselves to outsiders. I believe that sharing promotes acceptance and respect among different people with different faiths. I feel like coming across your tour was exactly what I was looking for as I continually read and try to understand Jewish culture and traditions. Thanks to Rabbi Einstein for the inciteful day. Sincerely, Judy Mortimer Idaho

Excellent Tour

The Chassidic Walking Tour was the best and most interesting thing we did on our eight day trip to NYC. Both Rabbi Epstein and Rabbi Yisroel Ber Kaplan were most gracious and spent considerable time with our small group of just two couples. Both Rabbi's did a wonderful job of answering our questions and showing us around the Lubavitch area in Crown Heights. Would highly recommend this tour to both Jewish and non Jewish (ourselves) alike.

The tour helps one understand the culture and lifestile of the Lubavitch Hassids. The information provided touches upon the history, values and customs of the community. The guide was very friendly , knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Tours like this promote tolerance and understanding. The little lunch was simple but the food was delicious and healthy. Thank you!

Informative Tour of Chassidic Life
Thu, Jun 11  10:00 AM madbaz66 Male 40-49 International Tourist(s) Individual
This tour was very informative and educational to help gain an understanding of the Chassidic way of Jewish life. I had the opportunity to see different aspects of daily life eg prayer, ritual bathing. I also saw a sopher (Jewish scribe) at work and gained an understanding into the history of the Chassidic Jewish Community. This tour is for both Jews and non-Jews.

The highlight of our tourist activities

We had come to New York to visit our son and attend his synagogue. We did several of the tourist kind of things but this was the best for us. Seeing the Chassidic Jewish community from the inside, visiting the yeshiva , watching the Torah scroll repairs, all made the tour a wonderful experience. (the lunch at the end was pretty good too) The Rabbi leading us was friendly and very open to us and our questions even though we both see Jewish life and expression a little differently. I would highly recommend this tour for Jew and non-Jew alike. Actually I think this tour is especially good for someone that is unfamiliar with Jewish things as the Rabbi is a fabulous teacher and a superb story teller. Bobbi and I could have spent the entire day in the Levi Yitzchak library. Thank you so much for the experience.

A unique look at Chassidic Jewish life in NY

This was a fascinating look at the life of Chassidic community. We had a lovely guide and her young son who showed us places most people outside the community would not get to see. Our group of 8 consisted of Jewish and non Jewish people. This was good too to understand different customs. We were free to take pictures, ask any questions and just to see how people live their lives here. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in the Jewish life and customs.

terrific experience connecting with Jewish Roots
Sun, May 17  10:00 AM Kozinn Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Rabbi Beryl Epstein was very friendly and informative. He answered many questions. We especially enjoyed visiting the busy synogogue and seeing how Torah scrolls are repaired, how Tefillin are made and sharing some common as well as different Jewish experiences. Not everyone on the tour was Jewish and I think the non-Jews in our group particularly found it very interesting. Even though I am Jewish and I was born in Brooklyn, raised in Long Island, and I returned to medical school in Brooklyn, I had never really had an opportunity to connect with the Chasidic community. They had always seemed much of a mystery to me. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone visiting Brooklyn. It was well worth time time spent.
