Our sunset cruise on the Jolly II Rover was terrific! The captain and crew were fabulous and the ship is absolutely beautiful. We had a wonderful time will definitely return when we are in Key West again.

Family friendly and fun!

This was not the typical "booze cruise", although guests were invited to bring their own drinks along and a cooler was provided. The captain and crew were friendly, talkative, and informative. Our 5 year old daughter was invited (along w/ any other guests that wanted to), to steer the vessel by herself. She did, for 10 minutes or so, and had a blast. We didn't see any dolphins, but it was beautiful and worth the price anyway. If you take the cruise one day, the next sailing is 1/2 off, and your 3rd sailing is FREE, so do it early in your trip!

Great but not piratey.

I booked this trip because I have a friend who loves pirates, and I wanted some kind of pirate experience. First of all I have to say that the crew was fantastic. They were all very professional, pleasant, and informative. They even let me drive the schooner for a short time which was a blast. There is nothing wrong with the cruise itself, but it wasn't quite what I expected. We left at 630 in order to watch the sunset, but this was earlier than I would like to have left. Unfortunately it was really hot, and the sun was still burning me. I got a sunburn on my face because we were facing it for the first hour. Also there was no breeze because we were sailing on the wind, so it was difficult to cool off. I would like to sail later when the sun is closer to setting, and then retun when it's completely dark. That way I could see the stars too. The crowd wasn't what I expected either. Most of them were older, and I kind of expected younger people who would want a pirate experience. I would thoroughly enjoy something theatrical such as costumes and a performance, but I understand this is probably too much. There was a cannon fired at the end, but other than that, and the pirate flag, there wasn't anything piratey about it. The description says a "hint of piracy." This is very true. It's a very subtle hint. So don't go for the pirate experience. Go for the beautiful sunset, the fantastic crew, and the experience of sailing on the wind.

Wonderful sail for grown-ups

We loved the sail.....left right on time with small group.....captain and crew were wonderful: informative, responsive to questions, gracious, and fun. Able to bring aboard and enjoy a bottle of wine (cooler available to keep all drinks cold). Crew able to actually cut the engine and sail! Thankfully no canned music playing so could really enjoy the experience. A great option to the noisy "party boats". The sunset was simply spectacular, the captain positioned the ship for best views. This is the sunset sail to take!

Sunset Sailing Fun!

We brought a bottle of Champagne and some pretzels aboard as a snack prior to embarking. We enjoyed the sail on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico and photographing the magnificent sunset. The Captain invited everyone to take a turn at the helm. Steering the ketch was fun.

FABULOUS

My fiance loves building model ships and so when we decided on Key West for our spring break destination, I wanted to do something special. I looked into sunset cruises on schooners and happened upon the Jolly Rover II. I booked it because of the price, and because we would have the option to bring our own beverages and food. As soon as we got onboard, I knew I had picked the best cruise option. The crew was fantastic, informative, and FUN! We shot cannon fire at the other schooners, assisted in raising the sails, and my fiance even got the chance to steer the ship! The ship was the perfect size, and the sunset was beautiful. I would absolutely recommend this cruise to anyone looking for a romantic date or even a fun small group outing. I LOVED IT and I know you will too!!

Earlier that day, I had asked, my now wife, to marry me on the beach in the Keys. I had this cruise planned the entire time as a follow up to our amazing day, and the crew of the Jolly II Rover did NOT disappoint!!! We had an amazing time, took a mountain of beautiful sunset photos, and enjoyed the entire cruise. The cannon shots were an added bonus!!! Thank you for everything, and we WILL be back again.
