Good general tour of Manhattan
Sun, Oct 7, 07   9:00 AM PATTYB222 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I felt that is was a good general (Orentation) tour of Manhattan. I would have liked to see Wall Street and the place where George Washington was inaugrated. I was told that wer were not going there because of security regulations. I was able to go there briefly the day before and there were no security problems. I feel that the tour guides should have better communication with the concerages at the hotels where they pick the people up from. The congerage at the New York Hilton said that they would come in and get me and in reality they were waiting for me outside the hotel. When the tour guide (Steve?) could not wait for me any longer he left a message for me at my hotel room. I was waiting for the bus outside the hotel and I was not able to get the message until the tour was over. When I was tired of waiting in the lobby. The Concerage called ZERV who contacted the tour guide. The tour guide said that they would wait 10 minutes for me at a certian spot. I had to take a taxi inorder to catch up with the tour group. This could have been advoided if the tour guide had better communication with the hotels.

Extremely entertaining and informative experience

We were hoping that this tour would form a solid foundation for our learning about New York and its people; and that is exactly what we got. We were a little concerned that a day of listening to our guide could become a bit wearing at some stage, but we needn't have been concerned because Stephen is a master communicator who could teach a few useful tricks to teachers in schools who complain that their students do not learn; Stephen obviously knows that it's no good giving information unless it is enjoyable, varied in its content and delivery, and pitched in ways that suit the different personalities that make up his audience. Having said the above, if the information had no added value over and above what is generally known, then the whole experience would have been merely enjoyable but not exceptional. However Stephen seems to have a rare insight into quite a few subtle nuances which we feel gave us an exceptional insight about this extraordinary city. Probably, for us, the most impressive thing about Stephen is that he appears to really care that his audience learns about the real New York. We had alot of fun, alot of learning, and are still amazed at the fact that he could hold our attention throughout the whole day. He made an extra effort to ensure that his customers were comfortable with the content of the tour.

This was a fantastic start to our stay in New York; we would highly recommend it especially to anyone visiting NY for the first time, as we were. We saw so much in the time and were able to decide which places to revisit in the limited time we had. Steve was an excellent, humorous and very enthusiastic guide - a great ambassador for the city. We loved every minute of the tour - it really lived up to our expectations and was very good value for money. Fond memories from the folk from the "Fatherland" - as Steve kept calling us!!

Great way to see New York City for the first time

It was a great first day in New York City. Our guide was very informative and fun. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has not been to New York City. The only downside was the lunch. My daughter is a vegetarian and the deli did not offer anything for her. The other restaurants which were in the vacinity we terrible. We had the worst meal in NYC that day.

I TOOK THE HALF DAY MARVALOUS MANHATTEN TOUR FOUR YEARS AGO AND LOOKED FORWARD TO SHARING THE FULL DAY TOUR WITH MY SISTER AND HER HUSBAND. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED AND NEITHER WERE THEY. MY DAUGHTER LIVED IN PA. AND TOOK THE TOUR SEVERAL TIMES WITH HER MANY VISITERS. I WOULD RECOMMEND IT AS A "MUST DO" FOR ANYONE VISITING MANHATTEN FOR THE FIRST TIME

Steve was our guide and George was our driver. Both were awesome. This was our thrid trip to NYC(Manhattan), but the first time we had taken a formal tour. I can't tell you how much it added to our experience. We learned things about the city that we would never have known otherwise. The small group made for a much better experience than the big tour buses. Thanks to Steve for a fun, entertaining, educational experience. We would HIGHLY recommend this tour.

the tour was the best ever. It was knowledgable and our tour guide Steve was well informed and he was an excellent tour guide. I wished that we had taken the tour in the beginning of vacation instead of the end so much to see we would have liked to go back over some of the interesting points that Steve pointed out. We stopped to take pictures and we were given enough time to reflect everything that Steve was telling us. I would give the tour a five star.

This tour is a good introduction to the city. It helps you get your bearings and gives you the opportunity to decide what is of interest to you. Then you can go back and explore these areas in depth. Our guide, Steve, gave good advice so we could get to Ellis Island on our own. The deli stop for lunch was great! We were thankful for Steve's information beforehand on how the tickets and lines worked. We followed his suggestions on what to order and had a great lunch and experience. The morning went very quickly.

We went on our full day tour the second day of our vacation in NYC and it turned out to be the key to the enjoyment of the entire trip! Steven, the tour owner and operator, does a fantastic job of showing the major sights in uptown, midtown, and downtown. He also provided fascinating historical facts associated with the sights-- NOT just "look at the Empire State Building" but history associated with its construction during the Depression, etc. Steven's tour earned our highest rating! Don't miss it.
