I took this same tour last August with my teenagers and we loved it!! This time I brought my 11 year old, my mother (76 years old) and a friend (who had never been to NYC). This tour provides a wonderful and complete overview of Manhattan. Steve is very knowlegable with a great sense of humor. I would recommend this to anyone, any age.

Making the most out of rain

My husband and I booked this tour in advance for our trip to NY. I was very disappointed that we were going to have to spend our first in depth view of NY in the rain, but you have to go with the flow. The usual tour had to be somewhat adjusted because of the weather. Stephen was very entertaining, interesting, and knowledgeable. Unlike the other tours that I researched, the bus is small which limits the size of the group. The small group allows interaction among the participants so not only are you getting to see NYC, but you get to hear about countries from all over. The only thing that I wasn't thrilled about was Katz Deli. I understand that the deli is considered an institution, but it just didn't impress me. Stopping for lunch where there are several quick places to eat might be a better idea so that people could choose what they like. I think that there were other places close by (they were not discussed), but with the weather being what it was, it didn't seem to be a good idea to venture out. All in all, I would recommend this tour. The chosen route provides a great overview of the city and all of its distinct districts. My advice would be to take the tour on day one or two of your trip so that you have time to go back and see any of the places mentioned in more depth.

We highly recommend the Marvelous Manhattan Tour with Steve. Great 'first day' activity if you're spending a few days in Manhattan. Not only was his humor enjoyable, he gave good info about the history of many of the sights. He also taught us about the different boroughs and how the grid is layed out for Manhattan so we could navigate the island with more ease if we planned to venture out again on our own.

From beginning to end, the most entertaining and informative tour of Manhattan. Steve answered all questions with knowledge, humor and professionalism. I would take it again just to enjoy a tour of NY and not have to navigate, cab or subway to so many fun and interesting sites. Please keep up the excellent tour. A great value for the price.

Marvelous Manhattan was indeed marvelous!

Steve, our guide, admitted to being under the weather. He brought his two children along with him. Neither of these conditions detracted from the valuable service he provided. He was courteous and very informative. Steve first gave us an overview of what he would be covering with his tour. He talked about the boroughs, the layout of New York, and he went over some terms that we needed to know as we traversed Manhattan. This initial explanation helped us immensely. Steve shared knowledge about New York that helped us to understand New Yorkers. He gave more details than other tour guides gave us. Although under the weather, he injected humor, he was engaging and very helpful.

Interesting and informative

We enjoyed the tour. We did not have the greatest weather conditions so I think that had an impact on enjoying some of the outside touring. Would have preferred a larger bus in order to see more of the landscape. This was the second time I did the tour and I think you have a great guide although some people do not appreciate the personal views of our guide. I think it adds to the experience so keep doing what you are doing. Steve C

Entertainment or passive aggressive prejudice?
Sat, Feb 16, 08   9:00 AM micheleorr Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Steve is charming, funny and knowledgeable. He had a way with words when it came to the African American couple on our tour, passive aggressive prejudice is the best way I can describe it. He went out of his way to make a reference to Black History month while nodding to the couple, finally she said to the others on the bus that Black History Month is not about her. The final straw for my husband and I was that he prided himself on remembering peoples names but referred to them as "where's OUR black couple" when their portion of the tour was over and they left. I know it wasn’t just me because after lunch Steve finally said something along this line to everyone "what's wrong, did I say something wrong, oh…no one will tell me but I'll hear about it in an email in 2 days". I had already planned to say something about it at the end of the trip, which when I tried to describe what offended me he started defending his comments before I could get a full sentence out. I realized that nothing I said to him, he would hear. When I got off the bus my three teenage children all commented that they were floored by his black/African American commentary and references.

Great introduction to NY

Steven knows his New York and enthusiastically shared his knowledge and his passion for the city with the participants of our tour. We managed to get a great combination of facts and anecdotal incidents to make us feel at home in the "big apple". The tour covered all essentials and we had a small enough group that all our questions could be answered. We felt we had a good enough orientation to plan our own schedules and revisit any places of additional interest in the days following the tour. Thanks for a great day!!

Loved the tour. Steve did a fantastic job and is a wealth of knowledge and information. Wish I had known about him in time to schedule him for more tours/time. Would loved to have stayed longer.

Half day tour covered quite a bit of N.Y.

We had just a few hours to spend in the city and had to opt for the half day tour. We saw all the sites we wanted to see and don't feel we missed a thing. Thanks!
