Overall Pretty Good

The tour guide knew a lot about the city and took the passengers to all the main points of Manhattan with short stops to get some closer looks. It was some long stretches in the car though, and with all the traffic, there were some jerky stops, so if you get car sick, this is not the tour for you. My friend and I are in our early 30's and some of the commentary by the guide seemed geared more toward some of the older people on the tour, but since there were eight guests all together, there were times for individual questions. Overall though, it was a nice overall glimpse of Manhattan and gave us ideas of what areas we would like closer looks at.

First and foremost I did two tours - one was the Festival of Lights (I would highly recommend it to visitors at Xmas time - it was awesome) and the other was the half day Royal Bus Tour. Before I describe the experience, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for "adding" the extra Festival of Lights Tour on Dec 27th so that I was able to experience the event. It was awesome and our tour guide, Steve, was extremely entertaining. What I liked most about the Royal Tour (half day) was that a variety of places are highlighted such that as a first time visitor to New York City gave me an idea of places that I might like to revisit and in fact I did revisit some of them. Had I been with another adult (rather than an 18 year old), I would have done the full day tour. What made the tour so great was our guide - he really was knowledgeable and entertaining. BUT, you must tell him that he blew one thing! We left the tour early to go into the Mercantile Building to watch the stock exchange in action. We left the tour early because where we were going we had seen the evening before on the Festival of Lights (so it wasn't necessary to see it twice). However, we were not allowed to go into the Mercantile Building - you have to somehow get special permission in advance to do it. I love NYC and I will be back - and I will do another tour with you!

Loved the tour. Steve did a fantastic job and is a wealth of knowledge and information. Wish I had known about him in time to schedule him for more tours/time. Would loved to have stayed longer.

A tour that all visitors (and even locals) must take in order to better appreciate the history and sites of New York City. Steve, our tour guide, was very informative and entertaining. He's a real new yorker who truly loves his city! After taking his tour, we too undertand why many people rave about this city.

After reading about Manhattan Tours on Tripadvisor and looking at their website I decided to take the morning tour of Midtown / Downtown. My wife and I opted to be picked up at the Waldorf Astoria (as we were staying close by) after initially not knowing which entrance to be picked up at, but thanks to the receptionist at Waldorf who phoned the tour operator for me, we were picked up by Steve at the main entrance. My wife, myself and 3 others were the only people on the tour so we were in a minivan which added to the experience and Steve was very friendly and chatty for 8.30 in the morning. He took us via main avenues and side streets to areas not normally visited but also took in the main attractions with lots of facts and local knowledge about New York’s different areas and history. He answered (nearly) any question we asked even if it had nothing to do with the area. Overall a great way to see New York and helped us decide what attractions to visit by ourselves and where to eat and shop. This tour was great for us but may not suit everyone who might want to spend a little longer at each attraction. One last thing as for the lunch stop – never tried Pastrami and Rye but all I can say is Yes, Yes, Ohh ,Yes!! Take the tour and find out. G+V. Belfast. Northern Ireland

The tour guide was knowledgeable, personable and entertaining. The tour was comprehensive and gave us a complete overview of the history of Manahattan. The few stops we made were meaningful and relevant. The short walk in Central Park was lovely and gave us a feel for the beauty of the Park. Steve's information about the various industry neighborhoods was information that was new to me even though I have been to New York many times. I have already recommended the tour friends, even those in New York, and family members.

We typically explore on our own, however my husband and I brought my parents (73yo) to New York. They both have some physical limitations in walking. Joe did an excellent job of touching information that was appealing to a wide range of people. It was evident that he is passionate about New York and loves what he does. That excitement was a good opportunity to stage the rest of our visit. Thank you!

It was a great 6 hour tour. Just 7 people in our group with a guide who happened to be the owner of the company Stephen Duer. I was born and lived most of my life in a city of 5 million. I do not like guided tours. But I was so glad that we went for this tour. It was an exelent way to get an overviw of all parts of Manhatten. And the tour stopped for a lunch at Katz’s deli. A lot of great information and vews. It seemed to be an "authentic" not as “touristy” way to see New York. The view was a bit personal, but that was very balanced with information and facts and that made the tour even more interesting. I highly recommend the tour. Have the company's phone number with you or provide your cell phone number when buy your tickets for the guide to be able to contact you. The bus arrived 15 min late at the meeting point because the guide was waiting for someone at a hotel stop. We were able to call to confirm that we were waiting at the right place.

Great info, entertaining guide, A few inaccuracies in the web description and the actual tour...was 9-3:30, not till 5...which was ok as we were just about hitting overload. No Grand Central due to city problem...but no visit to Columbia University area or Grants Tomb which would have been of interest to this visitor. Pleased overall by my young adult daughter as well as myself.
