Steve Duer is a fantastic tour Guid! I am not a fan of Bus Tours and I was dreding this tour, BUT Steve's passion for New York is fantastic and has changed my opinion of tours- find the right guide and a tour can be excellent! I will recomend Marvelous Manhattan Tours to anyone I know going to New York!

Great Intro to NYC

This was a great way to see many of the famous sites of NY without having to ride around in a big tour bus. It was great having someone who knew the ins and outs of the city and its many idiosyncrasies. Steve was easy to communicate with (when you could get a word in edgewise) and had answers to almost every question we had. We will recommend this trip to friends who come to visit. Our daughter had taken this tour twice previously and wouldn't hear of our not taking it. Thanks again for a great time.

Thorough tour with thoughtful commentary

We had 2-1/2 days to spend in NYC and we spent the first 1-1/2 doing a pretty good job of covering mid-town on our own. We didn't want to leave NYC without at least an overview of the rest of the island and we'd heard that Marvelous Manhattan was a great way to get that. With Stephen as our guide, we accomplished everything we wanted and more. We saw the important and famous buildings including restaurants, stores, theatres and museums. We drove through every district getting a thorough explanation of where we were, what the importance of the district was, something of its history and the names of famous people who either worked in, lived in or impacted the areas. We learned how the various districts changed and evolved over the years and exactly what they were like today. We covered it all--north, south, east and west. When we return to NY, we will know exactly what we want to visit and where it is. Any time we spend there in the future will be totally productive because of our tour. I can't say enough about Stephen. He made a huge effort to give us a tremendous amount of information in the time we had. He was very sensitive to members of the group. He enjoyed interacting with us and liked having questions and comments throughout the trip. After touring together for several hours, as guests we were getting to know one another and we began having conversations among ourselves. Stephen stepped back at those times and allowed us to visit without feeling that we were interfering with what he was trying to do, but he masterfully interjected his information when we were at important sites. He knew what would be important to all of us and he knew how to efficiently cover the city to get everything in. It was obvious right from the beginning that we were in competent hands with Stephen. If we could have, I would have taken this tour the first day of our visit in NY. We would have been much more confident about where we were going and what we were seeing. But, as it is, we did fine on our own and now know exactly what we want to do when we return. Our time in the future will be very productive because of our tour. I think we were very fortunate to have found Marvelous Manhattan and Stephen we are very grateful to him for caring to give us a great experience.

The perfect tour!

When the King (Stephen Duer) arrived promptly at our meeting place, he informed our small group - myself (43), my mother (73) and a couple from the UK - that there had been a fire on one of the tour busses the day before, and while he had to reschedule a tour for a larger group he would be able to personally give us the Marvelous Manhattan Tour. I have traveled extensively, and have been to New York numerous times, so my concern was that my mother would have an enjoyable day. Because of the expertise of our tour director she did. We were not a traditional homogeneous group; my mother is 73, I am 43 and we are African-American, our tour mates were a middle aged White couple from England. I had been to New York several times, my mother had never been, and our tour mates were on their third trip. Keeping all of us informed and entertained, especially given our very different backgrounds, expectations and areas of interest, was no small feat! Our guides’ knowledge of all aspects of New York City, from rap culture to historical architecture, was impressive. More important, however, was the fact that this tour was conducted in such a way as to keep all parties entertained. It was more like having a good friend who knows what you want to see and experience show you the ropes than a tour. My mom has restrictions on her ability to walk, and as a result on several of the stops she wanted to stay in the van. Mr. Duer was such an excellent conversationalist that she did not feel at all that she missed out on anything. The day gave all of us a wonderful overview of New York City - even though I have been to the city several times I learned and saw many things that were new to me. I would without hesitation suggest and recommend this tour to anyone who would like the ultimate touring experience. There were tours that cost less, but for my money this one could not be beat. Mr. Duer is the consummate professional, and in all of my travels around the world I have not been a part of a more interactive, interesting tour.

My husband and I were very happy with the tour. Our tour guide Joe, was very informative and you could tell how much he loved the city. George, our driver, did a wonderful job. I feel like this tour enabled us to see so much more of the city in the short time we had. Our stay in NYC was only two days, so we wanted to see alot. The tour accomplished that! I highly recommend it!

Excellent tour and a great guide. We had just one day in NY and we thought this tour could be a way to see and learn NY as much as possible. It turned out to be an superb tour, with lots of great info, humor, best lunch in the world, and a great round trip on Manhattan. Highly recommended. Lyn (from Georgia) and Terrica (from Alabama) had a great time. Not only did we learn so much from Steve about New York but we met some great travelers that we ran into all over New York after our tour. We laughed and laughed. Thanks for loving New York and making us love it too. Our only question is ... Were the three gentlemen from Canada really priest that were on our bus????

The best part of our trip!

With four days in NYC, this was our most enjoyable and informative activity! In a little under 7 hours we really got to see all the major areas and attractions. Better than that, Steve, the tour guide, was incredibly informative on a variety of topics. He definitely gave us a feel for what it was like to actually live in NYC. The tour bus was very comfortable, and the small group allowed for many questions and comments. I would strongly recommend taking this tour on the FIRST day of your trip. You will both understand and enjoy the rest of the trip so much more!

My husband had never seen NYC so we joined this tour and were very pleased with the pace and the personal touch. We loved the introduction of NY terms and the background info on various sites. We felt like we had an excellent overview of the city and we easily went back to visit special places on our own.

Exellent

It was a great 6 hour tour. Just 7 people in our group with a guide who happened to be the owner of the company Stephen Duer. I was born and lived most of my life in a city of 5 million. I do not like guided tours. But I was so glad that we went for this tour. It was an exelent way to get an overviw of all parts of Manhatten. And the tour stopped for a lunch at Katz’s deli. A lot of great information and vews. It seemed to be an "authentic" not as “touristy” way to see New York. The view was a bit personal, but that was very balanced with information and facts and that made the tour even more interesting. I highly recommend the tour. Have the company's phone number with you or provide your cell phone number when buy your tickets for the guide to be able to contact you. The bus arrived 15 min late at the meeting point because the guide was waiting for someone at a hotel stop. We were able to call to confirm that we were waiting at the right place.
