Great Tour- Go On Sunday!
Sun, Jul 6, 08   9:00 AM zervyboy Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
Hi! We wanted to learn how to get around the City. This all day tour did that for us. It included a break for lunch. A great tip by Stephen, our tour guide, was to go to the Katz Deli for the best hot pastrami sandwich in the City. This was a great suggestion. The Sunday that we went was hot and humid. I was very thankful that the windows opened from the bottom a little to allow fresh air to enter the bus. The itinerary included several stops where we could exit the bus and stretch our legs. Grand Central Station, the Battery Park Area, the Financial District, and Central Park were all good choices. I liked it that the tour took us uptown to Harlem. Had always been meaning to visit this area of the City.. Wish the tour could have included some time for shopping in SOHO and maybe time for a stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge, but now that I know where these things are, I will be more inclined to plan to do them on my own next visit. I recommend this tour. The seats were comfortable. The windows were wide and provided an excellent vantage point for viewing the neighborhoods as we drifted by. There was no bathroom on the bus so maybe this would not be the trip to take small children on. I especially liked that. Stephen provided non-stop commentary throughout the all day tour. He was proud of the City and of being a part of it. He enthusiastically answered questions and was not ashamed to show emotion when the subject of 9/11 came up as we visited the site. He became a little peeved I think when the audience failed to respond to a few of his remarks or "punch lines", but it was a hot day and the bus' s a.c. could not keep the bus cool enough to keep everyone attentive. It was a long tour.......but just as advertised. I recommend this tour to anyone wanting a safe, comfortable way to see New York City in a day. I liked the choice of stops. I liked the convenient pick up location. I liked the comfortable seats and the great big windows. I think that tour guide Stephen did an excellent job and he reviewed the facts and details of the 9/11 tragedy with the proper amount of respect and sadness as we toured that section of the City. I especially am glad that we did this activity on a Sunday of the long July 4th weekend when the traffic of the City was as low as it gets, allowing us to get from Point A to point B without the danger that must certainly accompany weekday tours. So, go on Sunday...and enjoy. Now, if I can only learn to use the Subway System!

The owner of the tour company had taken the day off, and our substitute was a teacher and radio talk show host. He has a radio show every Monday talking about New York history and culture. He is also an accredited teacher and theaches history to other teachers. The depth of his knowledge was very impressive, and he tried to share as much of it as he could during the tour. At times, the information he was giving us was a bit overwhelming. I must say he was well prepared. He brought two large canvas briefcases with him full of facts and pictures. We stopped at Madison Square Park, the Crysler Building, Financial Center (Ground Zero) and Katz for lunch. All nice locations. We drove through virually every area on Manhattan Island. The thing I came away with from this tour is that we have a lot of history here in our own country. I have spent a fair amount of time in London, and was always impressed with thier history, After this tour, I am pround to say ours is just as rich and varied as anyones! Recommend if you are a history buff. Owner is said to be more of an entertainer, but I was happy with the guide we had. I doubt you would find anybody with his qualifications on a Gray Line bus tour.

This is an excellent tour in all aspects. In fact, this is the third time that I have been on the tour. The last two times, I brought family and friends with me.

Terrific tour... was not let down from what I read in the prior reviews. Very enthusiastic and knowledeable guide. I learned a lot about the city, it's history, etc. The visit to Sardi's was great... we ended up having cocktails and appetizers the next day before the show as he recommended, and it was wonderful. We found ourselves quoting all the history and trivia we learned about during the tour with our friends over the following few days. I definitely recommend the tour.

Steve is a passionate New Yorker, who managed to convey the depth and breadth of this marvelous city with humor and expertise. Even after countless visits here, we learned an incredible amount as we shepherded our grand niece from Zurich around the Apple! Recommend this tour most highly!
