Enjoyed it very much

WE both enjoyed our tour of the city. We especailly liked that it showed us where we might want to go back to on another day of our trip. The stops we made were very good. We would higher reccommend it to anyone. Would like to try other tours if we go back again.

Our tour guide and driver Steve was GREAT! He had the ability to provide a lot of interesting information while instilling a bit of humor along the way. We had a great time and would recommend the tour to anyone who is interested in learning more about NYC.

Fun - Long on Downtown, Short on Uptown

Only 2 very minimal negatives (underline the minimal aspect): 1) Pinpointing the location where we would be picked up was not perfect (Hilton Hotel) - there are 4 corners, could have been any one of them. Did not know where to stand exactly to NOT miss the bus/shuttle, nor did we know what type of vehicle we were looking for so we were a little anxious about it. Luckily, we chose the right corner and once Steve arrived we were easily spotted and invited to board the bus! 2) Expected that the before lunch and after lunch tours would be similar in length so that we would see downtown before lunch and uptown after lunch. Trip was actually more like 2/3 downtown and 1/3 upper mid-town and only a short drive thru lower uptown. Appreciate what we did see, but time was a factor in seeing all we would have liked to see. Steve was great. Very entertaining and was able to keep everyone moving in spite of time constraints. Nice cohesive group - pretty much everyone on the same page in turns of what their expectations were and what they enjoyed seeing and doing. I was worried that 6 1/5 hours was a long time to be on a tour, but the time moved quickly and there was no lag time or boredom along the way. We thought it was money well spent and would definitely recommend it to others and do it again ourselves if/when we return to New York. Thanks Steve!!!

This Tour will be one of your Best NYC Memories

I searched diligently for a tour before my first visit to NYC in mid June. On this web site, I read a single sparse negative comment which I negated given the hundreds of positive ones, so I booked this tour knowing that even with a forecast of inclement weather it would be comfortable. It was over and above and beyond what I could have anticipated and hoped for. It was the highlight of my first and short visit to NYC! Steve is “The Whole Package Tour Guide” - skill, knowledge, ability, insight, patience, perception, energy, personality, professional, answers to questions, and tips and recommendations … all of this in abundance! Steve added so much more ie: tid bits of information and trivia and facts that were so interesting that I wanted to be sure to remember - so I took notes!!!! Our group, with a fairly wide age spread, interacted easily and quickly with Steve's lead and there was at least one individual onboard that was referred by another repeat customer. I can’t imagine a hop on / hop off nor a double decker tour listening to a commercial narration through a microphone after having taken this tour. A Suggestion: Steve …. if you were to simply tape yourself on a few of your tours, you would have the makings to print a booklet full of information and fun and good to know facts that reflect your personality and knowledge that your guests would be happy to purchase at the end of the tour as a souvenir. Best Wishes for continued success! ... A. M. in Georgia

Steve Duer, the owner of Marvelous Manhattan Tours, lead our tour and it was fantastic. His enthusiasm and passion for New York City combine to create an informative and entertaining experience. We went on the tour the first day of a four-day visit and it really helped us feel more at home and appreciative of what the city has to offer. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is planning a trip to New York City area.

Wonderful, intimate tour led by an enthusiastic, humorous, and knowledgable guide. We were able to go places, see things, and learn more about the city than we ever could have done on our own. The small group atmosphere added to the overall experience. We will definitely recommend Marvelous Manhattan Tours to anyone traveling to New York. It was, by far, the highlight of our trip!

Excellent All-round Tour

This tour covered a lot of ground in its 7 hours, including a stop for lunch at the famous Katz's Deli. Got off the bus several times for photo shoots and to stretch. The tour guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable. His love of NYC came through in his tour, and his breadth of knowledge was apparent. He knew everyone's names from the start, which made everyone feel very much at home. We especially enjoyed the tour through St. Paul's Chapel and the great view of Ground Zero, not to mention all the info regarding the future of this site. He was very adept at manoeuvring the bus through the NYC traffic, never missing a beat in his narration. He was humorous, thorough and good-natured. After the tour, we felt we had learned a lot about NYC and knew where we wanted to return to spend more time. Thanks to the guide, we were very comfortable getting around the streets and avenues. Thanks for a great tour!

There were four of us in our group, We had a great time. The King of New york was the best. I had been recommended this tour and glad I did it . You could not get a more personal tour than this one. I would do it again in a New York minute.

Good locations, poor guide
Thu, May 14  9:00 AM sandrarose Female 60-69 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Good trip in that it covered large number of main sights of Manhattan. However we did not enjoy the trip due to the personality, manner and lack of interpersonal skills of guide/driver. He never introduced himself by name. Unnervingly he frequently had both hands off the wheel whilst the vehicle was moving forward, one hand on the microphone, one waving in the air and head turned to one side to address us. He preached/talked at us rather than to us, in long monologues, in an unnecessarily loud voice. He had an overbearing manner and made derogatory remarks about us being boring and useless. He insisted on giving us protracted accounts of his opinions, biased rather than balanced, eg that we should be moving on from the events of ground Zero and after all only 2,000= were actually killed there. He made no effort to coordinate what was a very small group. The notice at the front of the bus "Gratuities Welcome" was inappropriate. We did not heed this as we did not feel he deserved any.

Fantastic Time in New York

Thank you for a wonderful tour. We not only enjoyed our day of touring New York City but learnt so much as well. It may have been the history of the city or just enjoying the wonderful sense of humor. We saw places and things that we would have easily missed if we had tried to see the city on our own. Thank you for a fanastic tour

30 minutes of fake purse shopping in Chinatown!?!
Thu, Apr 23  9:00 AM dfs85302 Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I was glad because it was a tour of less than 10 people, any more than 15 would've been too much, I didn't hear what the guide was saying very well. We stopped at some major sites. I would say we spent the most time at the World Financial Center viewing the former World Trade Center. The second thing we spent the most time doing was fake purse shopping in Chinatown. We spent about 30 minutes doing that. There were about 2 ladies (including the guide!) who stayed and did this, I just roamed around close by not knowing how much time they were going to be staying in this one store. That was a waste of time, considering we only spent 5 minutes TOTAL between the areas of Central Park, The FlatIron Building, and The Empire State Building. Oh yes, if you're a cupcake lover you'll enjoy Chelsea Square Market, we spent about a half hour in there as well cupcake shopping and brownie shopping. You don't get any close up views of the statue of liberty, we spent about 5 minutes, maybe less, viewing the distant statue, then left. For $95, it wasn't worth it (especially if there was the maxiumum amount of guests of 35 people). If I had brought a partner along, I would have rather done a ONE on ONE tour with RealNewYorkTours.com (not affiliated), and you get to see alot more sights for $125pp and you get your very own tour guide. I guess this was ok for a first time visit to New York with limited time.
