Went the extra mile, literally!

We were a small group just my husband and myself and another couple and because of this, Linda, our guide, took us on a longer tour which included the graveyard to look at the grave stones by lantern light. We returned the next day to get pictures of the detailing on the grave stones, and to commemorate the visit. She spun some great stories which were down-right funny and some quite chilling. She very much enjoys her job and the comraderie she and the other guides have with each other was very nice to see. They like to gather later to swap stories about the tours and ghost sightings. We would highly recommend this to anyone either travelling in a small or large group. We passed a larger group and they looked to be having a great time.

It was great!

I have lived in the area my whole life and have wanted to take this Lantern Tour for a few years now but wanted to wait until my son was a little older. Our guide was very knowledgable of the area legends and she made the tour very exciting. It was very creepy walking through the old cemetary at night which added to the thrill of maybe catching a ghost on our digital camera. I would recommend this tour to anyone from the area or traveling through on vacation. It was a good time.

In general, a good pass time

Not scary if you have friends/family with you!!! Besides the Plantation and Mayflower, this is probably the 3rd most "exciting" activity at Plymouth. Since the town is very small, the tour doesn't take you very far. Stories by the tour guide are sometimes long, but not boring. Teenagers like myself will probably not find it scary--even going into the cemetary. However, kids around age 5-7 may be terrified. Lanterns are not really there to give light, just something to hold because most are very dim. Trip is hour and a half, so at least you'll get some exercise! All in all, TRY IT. Price is reasonable (unlike the $10 parking alone at every other place), at $15 per adult, and discount for children---There's nothing else to do at night.

Our tour guide was enthusiastic, engaging and accomodating. She really made the tour worthwhile. Her presentation skills were so good that the tour spooked some of the younger members of our group!

A Must-See For Those Visiting Plymouth

Our tour guide, Barbara, made the evening's tour a real delight! Walking with the lanterns added to the fun while we traipsed all about town. We even had some spookiness occur while on the tour--streetlights that went out and then back on suddenly several times. Wear comfortable walking shoes and keep an open mind!

A must do activity while visiting Plymouth!

My sister and I recently visited Plymouth and found the Lantern tour to be a wonderful addition to our visits to the Mayflower II and the Plymouth Plantation. This lantern tour gave us a greater understanding of the history of Plymouth, the pilgrims landing and the native American people who already occupied this area. By hearing the stories and the history of the people and the area you can really begin to understand the dynamics between the two groups and the conflicts and difficulties that occured. WE highly recommend this wonderfu 90 minute evening walk. The guides are very knowledgeable and personable.

Ghosts and Legends great for family

Our family took the tour with our ten year old son and a group of his friends. We are all from Plymouth and it showed us a side we hadn't seen before. The boys were a bit scared, but said in the end they really enjoyed it and learned a lot. We would recommend this for locals as well as tourists.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Even though we reside in Plymouth, we never before took advantage of this tour. The guide was personable & knowledgable. Some pretty peculiar activities occurred as we strolled down the "haunted" streets and alleys!

Money & Time Well Spent
Fri, Jul 21, 06   7:30 PM CHICKYJOJO Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Having limited time to spend in Plymouth, we wanted to get a good overview of the sites. We took this tour on the evening of our arrival (July 21, 2006) and it turned out that we were the only three folks signed up. Our "private" tour guide was a lovely woman named Pat. The 90+ minutes flew by. Pat was full of interesting info and anecdotes. We freely asked questions and enjoyed our "conversation". Our Favorite Highlights: the travels & travails of Pilgrim Rock, discussion on the history of gravestone art at Burial Hill, and rubbing Massasoit's moccasin for good luck . Our 12 year old's interest was held for the entire tour and she got a kick out of traveling by the light of her own latern. We all learned quite a lot, and based on what we had seen / learned, we narrowed down which places we wanted to explore in depth the next day. We got a lot out this tour. It was definitely money & time well spent!
