Our family of four had our guide Marc all to oursleves. Marc was a great guide and very infomative. The food was great and introduced us to some restaurants we never would have tried on our own. A fun way to see and taste the city in a new way.

We really enjoyed this tour. Exposed us to some restaurants we would not have gone to and all the food was GREAT and the group we were on the tour with was so very friendly. Excellant way to get to see Milwaukee. Highly recommend.

Our group of five women, including moms and adult daughters, enjoyed spending the afternoon with Jonathon, our tour guide. Our group consisted of three locals and two visitors from another state. We now plan to take some of the other tours. I highly recommend Milwaukee Foood Tours.

Good enough, but not worth the money

Our tour guides were very friendly. The details they gave were fun and informative. If you are looking for a tour with extremely interesting history, this would not be the one. We found the historical aspect of the tour ho-hum, and it sometimes felt like a plug for the restaurants. The food at the first stop, a chicken roll, was delicious, so we were excited to start things off. We were made to stand and eat out on the deck, rather than being given a place to sit down, so that was a bit disappointing. The stop for pizza was disappointing. It was billed as pizza just like is served in Italy. I have been in Italy, and although the flavors were the same, there were only random dollops of cheese, with several pieces not even having any cheese at all. That is not how they serve pizza in Italy, and it is not how it should be served here. We did get to sit in the restaurant at this stop. The beer was very good, but just a chaser, so disappointing. We again weren't given any seats, but crammed into the bar area. At the next food stop, each person got two very small dried out pieces of lamb, having to split a skewer. Some people got veggies, others didn't. Those that did, again only had two small pieces. We did get to enjoy the ambiance of this restaurant, which was unique and festive. What was supposed to be our final stop had a special event going on, so we were unable to stop, and given a piece of chocolate while standing on a street corner instead. So, the tour was okay, the food was okay, but not one of our party of 7 felt like it was worth the $40 price.

not a food tour

This should not have been promoted as a food tour. Minimal actual food provided but lots of tour guide trying to sell the restaurants. We had to go for dinner immediately afterwards. Overpriced.

Very unique experience

I went on this tour with friends to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was a unique experience that we all enjoyed; the food was great and substancial, the restaurants we visited were gracious, the tour guide was fun and knowledgeable and it was fun being a tourist in my own city. My only thoughts to improve are 2 things: in the end we felt a bit rushed. Also, it is fine to only include a small sample of beer on the tour, but don't advertise that "beer is included". We were under the impression there would be more and perhaps some of us did not bring enough money, or may not have come if they had known.

Our tour guide did a superb job detailing the history of the 3rd Ward and it's subsequent transformation into a urban destination. The food served at the restaurants, we stopped at, was excellent. We now have a list of restaurants that we need to go back and experience more fully. Our group learned so much, while being entertained at the same time. Thank you for the wonderful evening.

An unexpected surprise !

My partner and I have been on various food tours before, when we thought we would try this one in Milwaukee that we found as a link from the Historic Third Ward website. We were not really expecting much, partly because Milwaukee is not generally known for it's fine cuisine and partly because of the time of year--the rather dull time of March in Wisconsin. However we were pleasantly surprised at the professionalism and the knowledge of the tour guides ( a husband and wife team--also the owners). Their stories were very charming, yet informative and very relevant to the food tour itself. The walking takes place in a relatively small group of city blocks and is not overwhelming and the choices of establishments that were visited runs the gamit from pizza place to a more extravagant Turkish restaurant to a champagne lounge that serves wonderful gourmet chocolates as a finishing touch. I highly recommend this tour and on a bigger scale the tour company itself, since it offers many differnent tours as the season gets underway, to anyone who visits Milwaukee. You will enjoy fine food and drink and on top of it all you will learn a little bit of history of the fine city of Milwaukee through humorous and anecdotal storytelling.

It gave us a great appreciation of our own city. So often you just head right to your destiantion and don't enjoy the surrounding area. It was fun being a tourist in our own city. The guide gave us good insight into tibits about our town.

Lovely evening --- more food than I expected

I was on the Third Ward walking tour on Satuday, October 24. It was a great opportunity to try several restaurants in the Third Ward that I would probably not have visited on my own. I was only expecting to get a few samples of food along the way but it was more than a full dinner by the time were finished. Given the price of $40, it was a great value. I think some of the Milwaukee history facts the guide shared were a bit questionable. For example, we were told the Rockwell Automation clock was the largest 4 sided clock in the world -- since Big Ben in London is two-sided. I guess she has never been to London. Big Ben is bigger and 4-sided. The unique feature of the RA clock is that it is the largest four-sided ILLUMINATED clock. There were several such misses on the details. Maybe the tour should just stick talking about the food, no one really seemed interested in a history lesson anyway.
