Guide not good

I've done several tours with this company and it's the guide who makes the tour. This guide didn't have her script memorized much less other interesting facts. The food was great.

For the price of $40 a person, I thought the Third Ward Food Tour was informative, generous in their food portions, and accomodating. I was impressed by the diverse and delicious menu and our (personal chef) food guide.

Enjoyable, but...

Overall, our group very much enjoyed the tour. A few times we felt a bit out of place, like interlopers, when a particular restaurant seemed to overlook our arrival, as if we were unexpected.

There were two of us on the tour so it was quite intimate. Allan was delightful and knowledgable about the area history and architecture.

We were overall impressed with our tour guide and her knowledge of the Third Ward; we actually learned a lot and went places that we didn't know existed. However, we were a little bit disappointed with the choice of places that we ate. First stop was the Milwaukee Public Market at the Soup and Stock Company. The chili was very good as it always is. We would've preferred to maybe sample something from one or two more places there such as St Paul's Fish Market which is what the Public Market is known for. The pizza was great at Rustico and they provided Tiramisu in celebration of two couples on the tour celebrating an anniversary. Spin to us did not make sense and it was awkward coming in with all the young kids playing ping pong. The sandwich wasn't that great and they only gave you a fourth of a sandwich. The sweet potato chips were great BUT you had to share a very small plate with several other people at the table. The staff at Spin was not very friendly and it seemed that we were a burden to them. Next we went to the Tulip which was a Meditteranean inspired restaurant. The chicken shish kabobs and rice were excellent and the atmosphere had a great ambiance. We will definetely go back there for a full meal. Again, the staff acted as if we were a burden and it took several attempts for my husband to just buy a beer. The last stop was at Coquette, a French restaurant where we were served a good sized portion of chocolate mouse. The mouse was nice and think and really hit the spot. We didn't even go into the actual restaurant however and sat at bistro tables which were in the entrance to the restaurant. We weren't even sure what the restaurant itself looked like let alone what it served. Needless to say, we were overall satisfied with the tour but if you do not like talking to others and share food family style, you may want to reconsider taking this tour. My husband and I are private people and did the tour to spend quality time together without the kids... We were disappointed with the portion sizes at most of the places and were still hungry after the tour. We only received 1 sample of beer and Milwaukee is supposed to be known for the beer. The staff at just about all of the places treated us as an interruption to their restaurant and didn't offer to sell us drinks or anything extra which we gladly would have paid for. We paid $90 and still had to eat something afterwards.

I was super excited to do one of these food tours and I'm so glad I decided to do the Historic 3rd ward. The food was wonderful, the history was really interesting, the walk was a good distance and Jean (our tour guide) was fabulous!! I will definitely sign up for another tour!

Our experience on the Old 3rd Ward food tour was outstanding! The tour guide was quite knowledgeable and extremely enthusiastic. The food was wonderful and great plenty that we all were "stuffed" when we were done. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Milwaukee.

Fun evening, great leader, friendly group

Our group of four enjoyed our leader's sense of humor and our interactions with some interesting people in the larger group (15). The food was varied and sufficiently filling but rather ordinary choices. However, it was great visiting new-to-us restaurants. We plan to return to two places visited on the tour. We also plan to take another (different) tour offered by this company.

I enjoyed the food tour. The restaurants were a good variety of different types of food. The information was very interesting and the questions were thought-provoking. The choices appealed to a vide variety of people with varying tastes. The tour guide was enjoyable and personable making it a fun evening.

It was our first time in Milwaukee and we wanted to do something different, fun, and interesting. So I searched online and found out about this walking food tour. it sounded perfect for what we were looking for. We met at the Public Market and tried to located our guide. I wished that there was some type of sign or indication on who we were supposed to meet. Although they gave us a phone number to call if we were lost, neither my husband and I remembered to take our phones with us. Eventually we found who we were suppose to meet and started our tour. We started our tastings with a hearty chili soup, chicken puff pastries, pizza, beer, fries (chips), chocolates and also left with some spices and some tips on where else to go in Milwaukee. Our guides were very friendly and informative. We learned alot! I would definitely recommend this tour and can see the benefits of a brand new tourist as well as a native. Thanks!
