Be a tourist in your own city

It gave us a great appreciation of our own city. So often you just head right to your destiantion and don't enjoy the surrounding area. It was fun being a tourist in our own city. The guide gave us good insight into tibits about our town.

Brady Street Food tour was one of the highlights of Milwaukee. Brady Street in itself is upbeat and full of life then add all the food you sample. We got to indulge in cracker style pizza (my personal favorite), tacos, salami, olives, canoli's, shepards pie and end with beer! A great treat. The tour guide was a local and very friendly.

The walking pace was just right, with Theresa sharing historical tidbits along the way. I went back to Glorioso's Market the next day to buy bread, marinated mozzarella, olives and prosciutto for a cocktail party. Super tasty. An interesting tour, with multiple stops for various tastings, for a very fair price. Highly recommended.

Not what expected

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Chicago and the Greenwich Village tours, so decided to try this tour. It did not live up to my expectations. But, Milwaukee does not have the food choice or the history of those two cities. We also did this on a Saturday night. One restaurant was not ready for us....which should not have happened! We were also told that the tour was limited to 16, but there were 19 on the tour. This was way too large. It should have been split in half. Another of the stops was omitted due to a wedding. Perhaps they should not do tours on a Saturday night if the restaurants cannot accommodate the tours. I felt a bit cheated by the large group and missing one stop. The food was not nearly as plentiful as on the Chicago tour. The soup tasted like Campbell's tomato out of a can. The wine was marginal. The pizza could not live up to Chicago or New York pizza. Although it was enjoyable, it did not live up to my expectations. I think you could do most of this on your own with a guide book and save a lot of money.

Our tour guide Maria was fantastic!!!! She knew SO much about the area and incorporated her own experiences along with the history of the neighborhood. I use a wheelchair, and she was VERY accommodating of me without compromising the rest of the attendees. Plenty of food, but not SO much that you felt sluggish. Great variety!!! My husband and I had a great time and would definately take another tour. The cookies at that barkery were delicious!!!! Then again, I loved EVERYTHING we ate!!!! Thanks Maria for a wonderful time!!!!
