| My husband and I both enjoyed all aspects of this tour. Diane clearly enjoyed her job as hostess and we found her to be so very personable and knowledgeable. She made a point of getting to know us and enabled our group to really bond as a group despite our age and cultural differences. A great assortment of foods to taste and a nice variety of restaurants and food sources. Length of 3 1/2 hrs was perfect and the cost of $49 was quite reasonable. I would recommend this tour highly to anyone visiting California. |

| This was the only tour we reserved ahead of time and we're so glad we did. Our tour guide Diane's personal relationship with a lot of the owners of the places we visited added a dimension hard to describe or replicate. A very enjoyable morning well worth the money and we highly recommended this tour. |

| This tour was one of a kind. Diane was knowledgable and an awesome tour guide as she showed us around the Farmers Market and down 3rd street and surrounding area. We met many shop owners and vendors who shared their stories of their unique foods. The samples provided were wonderful and plentiful. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the LA area. |

| While on vacation in LA and the surrounding area, we went on the Melting Pot Food Tour. We both love great food and thought that this would be a wonderful way to learn about more remote, less known, but fabulous restaurants.
When meeting up with Diane at the Farmer's Market, she was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Diane spent time learning our name, where we are from, what we do, etc. and I thought it was a nice touch to have that personalization. When the tour started it was obvious that Diane knew a great deal about the farmer's market, the owners of the stands, and the history of the foods we were eating. During the tasting, we got to sit for a few minutes and really enjoy what we were eating. Our group was on the smaller side so it was wonderful for us that we got to take the left overs back to our hotel. All of this continued for our walk down 3rd Street. We went to a variety of places, a bakery, a tea house, japanese, etc. During our visit to Joan's on 3rd, Joan herself was there to talk with us about the restuarant and the food which was a nice bonus. The tour did conclude at the Japanese restaurant which was unfortunate for me since I was so full I wasn't able to enjoy our tasting because I just couldn't eat it. I wish we could have ending on a place like the tea house that would have been a little lighter. The japanese place is a little bit down 3rd St, but not too far to walk back and if you chose to take the bus, Diane will give you bus fare and ride back with you.
Overall, I thought that this was a wonderful addition to our time in Los Angeles. I suggest that you do this earlier in your trip so you have time to go back and eat at some of these remarkable places. This was well worth the money spent on the ticket! We learned a lot, ate a lot (so much that I didn't need to eat until about 7pm that night), and made a great contact with Diane. She encourages you to join their mailing list and find her on Facebook which is great because I feel like I can contact her about any restuarant related thing I might need if I'm in LA again. If you like great food, this is definitely worth your time and money! |

| My friend and I signed up for the Farmer's Market Tour. It ended up to be a semi-private tour.
The guide was knowledgeable and accommodating. Needless to say, my friend and I got good serving of food, considering we were the only ones who went on the tour.
I like to eat and learn a little history along the way. I like the brochure of the planned locations we will frequent and the locations of the places where samples would be given.
Since it is a small tour, it is fine without some type of special head phones. But, I can imagine if the group was any more than 8 people, we would need some special head phones to hear the guide, as the market can be a loud place. |

| Diane was great and entertaining. It was a nice warm day but no one in our group
seemed to mind. We had a leisurely stroll and visited some nice restaurants. I live in Los Angeles and I wasn't aware that these nice restaurants existed. Considering a comparable San Diego 'foodie' tour is $75.00, this tour was a good value.
When I get some time I will take the Pasadena tour also. |

| My husband and I enjoyed seeing and hearing about the Farmer's Market. Since it is such a landmark it was great being able to sample some of the food and meet some of the priorperiters of the marketplace. The tour guide was well informed and shared her thorough knowledge of the area. We also toured some eateriers on 3rd street. It is an enjoyable trip and well workth the money. |

| My wife and I, early 50's, went on this small group walking/tasting tour, and we really enjoyed ourselves. The tour guide was a nice and friendly local who had done her homework. She gave us 3 1/2 hours of behind the scenes knowledge of the Farmers Market neighborhood and its places to eat. Because of the small group (we had 9 in our tour), by the end of the tour we had made new friends from all over the world - including a nice lady from Australia. We had people on our tour as young as in their early 20's.......and I think we were the oldest. I would recommend it for ages 20 - 70+ ! (You are on your feet 80% of the time.)
My wife and I came to LA on business, but wanted to spend two days sightseeing. One day we took the VIP Grand Bus Tour, which was nice. Every big city has such a bus tour. In it, we saw LA from the top down - the big picture. The second day, we signed up for this Farmer's Market Melting Pot walking/tasting tour. It was our bottom up, behind the scenes, intimate view of one part of the city.
By its nature, I wouldn't recommend bringing children on it. Unless they could be well behaved for 3 1/2 hours, I suspect that they might find Disneyland more exciting. In our tour, we had none. This was a big contrast to the evening we spent at Downtown Disney, where the sounds and joys of children having fun were everywhere.
As for the Melting Pot tour, we highly recommend it !! FIVE STARS !!!!!
They also give a similar tour in Pasedena. The next time we are in LA, we will definitely book ourselves to visit that part of town. |
