Farmers Market & W. 3rd Street Food Tasting Tour

Good tour. Lots of tastings. Highly recommended

Start to finish, Melting Pot Tours served up a professionally polished, extremely informative experience. Expectations were "Food Tour" and collectively the group was excited for that, then it evolved into so much more. In-depth insight into not only the famous Farmers Market and it's deep history but also The Grove, 3rd street hot spots, Beverly Center and the adjoining neighborhoods was fantastic. Impressive samplings of a wide variety of wonderfully prepared foods were coupled with passionate conversation from each presenter along the way. Locals and visitors to L.A. take note, this should be on everyone's itinerary!

The tour was put together very well, full of exciting places to eat and enjoy downtown LA. If you are a Foodie, this is a must for you!

My 12 year old daughter and I were given tickets as a Christmas gift from her mother. We both enjoyed the morning immensely. The guide was so personable and informative. My daughter enjoyed her company as much as the adults on the tour. We both learned ao much and enjoyed the samplings. Our favorite was the Brazilian bar-b-que in the market.

This is an excellent tour in L.A. Great history! The tour owners have a true passion of their tour group in educating the group about LA and it' rich culinary history! Bravo Zulu!

Simply delightful tour of some very tasty eateries. Our guide was very well spoken and insightful, regaling us of the history behind the establishments we stopped at for samplings. The owners of each were very friendly and came out to speak to us. Being a vegan on the tour was not a problem either...the chefs were very accommodating and I found the vegan/vegetarian samplings absolutely delicious! Diane, our guide, was one of the best hosts and guides I have ever had on a tour. My date was very impressed and the experience left us both in a very romantic mood afterwards. My wife and I just love to try new places. being the LA locals we are, we have been to the Farmer's Market before and do enjoy it. But being able to hear the history of the place made it that much more enjoyable. The tour was fun, and the other people on it were interesting. This tour is an awesome way to spend the morning, just be sure to wear comfy shoes.

Kelli and I had a great time...our guides, Lisa and Diane were extremely pleasant...very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable...again, it was a great morning and a great way to feel like a tourist in your own town. However, there are a few things I would recommend...I would have liked more time at the Farmer's Market...more venues and more restaurants...there is so much to see there...I know it's a matter of those willing to participate, but a wine tasting would have been nice..( I know it's morning and everyone doesn't drink) Perhaps behind-the-scenes watching someone prepare a dish or pastry would have been interesting and in keeping with the theme...we also though a little shopping time in some of the venues would have been nice, rather than having to go back...(yes there are time constraints, but many of us in the group didn't have time to go back...perhaps a discount for those in the group) The Japanese restaurant was good, but I would have ended at Joan's on Third....it had a better vibe...the perfume shop was interesting but too long and had nothing to do with food.) Don't get me wrong we had a wonderful time and would recommend this to our friends...but since you asked us to be critical i threw in a few nip picks....thanks. Paul and Kelli

The Farmers Market tour was well worth the price -- even if they hadn't fed us, since the guides were very knowledgable and friendly. I've already recommended the tour to my friends and co-workers. I'm looking forward to attending other Melting Pot Tours events.

This was the most interesting and fun part of our trip to LA. You could enjoy the farmers market without a guide but you get so much more out of it with the extra info and structure. You also get to try more foods through the tour than buying on your own. Initially I thought the tour was a little expensive when I booked it but you really get your moneys worth! The 3rd st part was great too discovering places that I probably would have just walked by without the guide. Really really tasty food and a variety as well. Our tour guide far exceeded my expectations. She had given tours in Europe and worked for Rick Steves even! Her excitement for the food was contagious. We ended the tour wanting to come back to LA just to do another melting pot food tour! Highly recommend.
