Lovely way to spend a morning in LA

Starting off the day at the Farmer's Market, followed by an amble through food shops and a book store on 3rd St is a fine way to spend a morning in LA. Diane was entertaining and an enthusiastic guide to the foodie delights along the way. The food offerings were varied and we dscovered some places we would probably have overlooked on our own tour through the market. We came back a couple of times during our stay in LA to shop at the places she took us to. The tour is very leisurely and not that much walking. The treats provided by the Cookbook Library were especially yummy. So nice of them!

Eye-opener to LA's original farmer's market!

you might have been to farmer's market in LA because it's so raved about, but the food sure taste much better when you know about the history/story behind the people cooking your food! our food guide, Diane, is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and it makes the tour so much educational and fun! we also explored 3rd street and got to see outside farmer's market, which is definitely a bonus! dont think that the portions are too small because at the end of the tour, you will rather walk than take the bus back to the market!

The tour was fun and informative, and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. The one complaint I have is that there were too many samplings of sweets. Though by the end of the tour we could not have eaten another bite. The savory foods we sampled were wonderful. My favorites - the Brazilian BBQ and the sushi rolls wrapped in rice paper with fried soft shell crab. Yummy!

Tour was more than we expected, opportunity to taste the most amazing donuts (especially apple fritters), toffee, cheese and curry and lots lots more, really enjoyed this and learning about the farmers market and LA. Highly recommend if you are local or staying on a holiday here!

Kelli and I had a great time...our guides, Lisa and Diane were extremely pleasant...very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable...again, it was a great morning and a great way to feel like a tourist in your own town. However, there are a few things I would recommend...I would have liked more time at the Farmer's Market...more venues and more restaurants...there is so much to see there...I know it's a matter of those willing to participate, but a wine tasting would have been nice..( I know it's morning and everyone doesn't drink) Perhaps behind-the-scenes watching someone prepare a dish or pastry would have been interesting and in keeping with the theme...we also though a little shopping time in some of the venues would have been nice, rather than having to go back...(yes there are time constraints, but many of us in the group didn't have time to go back...perhaps a discount for those in the group) The Japanese restaurant was good, but I would have ended at Joan's on Third....it had a better vibe...the perfume shop was interesting but too long and had nothing to do with food.) Don't get me wrong we had a wonderful time and would recommend this to our friends...but since you asked us to be critical i threw in a few nip picks....thanks. Paul and Kelli

Excellent tour with great food! The Farmer's Market is full of history and an eating tour through it is the way to see it! Add to that a continuation of great food down 3rd Street along with a knowledgeable guide and you have a wonderful and worthwhile event. Make sure not to eat before because you will need that empty tummy for a lot of great food! Kendall, our guide , was terrific - very entertaining and full of information. Next time I will try the Pasedena tour!

The tour guide was very informative and super nice. The food on the tour was excellent. My Red Hat group really enjoyed the tour and plan on taking the Melting Pot Tour in Pasadena.
