The Farmers Market complex is big and can be overwhelming. THe tour which also includes nearby Third Street shops and restaurants helps you to appreciate the general layout, the options available, and gets you launched on further visiting which could easily occur over a couple of additional visits to the area. The food choices were yummy and the volume of just a taste from many sites is perfect so you can sample many things before you are obscenely full and can't eat another bite.
We had a small group and were lucky because it meant we could hear everything that was said, had more than enough of everything to eat.
Tour guide Summer Davis is a true pro and was very well informed, friendly, had lots of interesting tidbits.
Great way to introduce yourself to the Farmers Market. It's truly a multicultural experience so everybody is going to find much they like and likely to find something they totally didn't know before the tour. What more could you want?! |

Lucked out: tour led by owner of the tour company. Great fun seeing the different shops and stalls in the market. Would never have discovered all its charms on my own. Lots of great tastings, too. Highly recommended. |

My husband and I went on the Farmer's Market tour and had an awesome time. Our guide was friendly and knowledgable, and the food was delicious. This is a great way to spend your morning! I would recommend this to anyone visiting Los Angeles. Thanks, Melting Pot Tours! |

Our tour guide was awesome-provided stories of the area besides the food tastings. We had a great experience at all our tastings but one - Joan on Third. Our tasting was of asian chicken salad but it had no dressing you could taste and you either got lettuce and no toppings or toppings with no lettuce plus no chicken to speak of. |

We did similar tours in New York and Chicago, so we can compare. This tour was very good and or guide was a real "foodie". We just loved it! |

Truly enjoyed the tastings of the Farmers Market on 3rd Walking tour with Melting Pot Tours. At first, I thought I would tire of the "sweet stops" which began the tastings, however I was not disappointed with the injection of savory meats and flavors as we made our way through, down and out the market and onto 3rd street.
From beginning to end the "tasting docent" was hospitable to both we the tasters and the restauranteurs.
Recommend for an insight to Los Angeles History and keeping in touch with the best of Los Angeles eateries.. |

Kendall was a great guide - showed and taught us a lot about the farmers market and the restaurants on 3rd Street - I thought some of the places picked were a little gross...like the meat place in the market. The last stop - the Japanese place was a little lacking in favor....not sure that I would do the tour again - but I would recommend it to others - I would just tell them to not expect a lot from the food - to go for the experience and to gain knowledge of the Farmers Market. |

Both Lisa (owner) and Kendall (guide) have the incredible energy to bring you through one of the best food tours we've ever been through - and coming from Boston, that is quite a feat.
The sights, history and rich stories (and celebrity sightings) go very well with the plethora of food they have you try, from tons of local vendors all the way down to a couple well known, and even a couple hidden gems.
SO happy to have done this as a repeat visitor - I will be doing different tours now through them, EVERY time I go to the West coast. DO NOT MISS IT!
Way to go ladies, on another success! |

I'm a local who grew up in the neighborhood of Farmers' Market, but still didn't know many of the things covered by our wonderful guide, Kendall. The food samples were very generous, and exposed me to places I wouldn't have tried otherwise ... and I'm so glad! We also strolled along 3rd St. to other restaurants, many of which I will definitely return to. I was already a fan of Melting Pot Tours, having done the Pasadena tour back in 2010. This is a great thing to do, and the tour guides make it fun and interesting. |
