Good food & fun day

I did not know what to expect on this food tour, but it was more than I could have ever imagined. I learned a lot about the Farmers Market, its history, the history of the area and L.A. too. I also learned some food tips and a lot about all the restaurants we visited as well as those we did not visit. Our tour guide Diane was a delight and made us all feel welcome. She was very knowledgeable and took an interest in us as well. I would recommend this food tour to anyone who is new to L.A. as well as to locals who don't know much about this area. You'll be well fed (the food was delicious) and well entertained.

We had a fun time on this tour and would recommend to family and friends of all ages, local or not. Diane was very informative and friendly, the small groups were great, and the tour length is not too long and not too short. Price is fair and we enjoyed learning about other points of interest within the city. The only thing I would change about this tour is the fact that about half of the stops are pastries/sweets and I would take some out and replace it with other tastings as the sweets were getting overwhelming for both of us. Would recommend.

Our group included an 80 year old and a 14 year old, and we all had a great time. Diane, our tour host, was entertaining and charming, and we learned a lot about the history of the Farmers Market and the various shop owners while sampling a wide range of delicious foods. This is definitely the best introduction to the Farmers Market and Third Street.

The Melting Pot Food tours are a unique thing to do for a day out or a vacation. All four of us really enjoyed learning about the history and merchants in the Farmers Market. Diane is truly knowledgeable and has forged great relationships with the merchants. We felt like we got to taste some of the best food from the best food booths and restaurants!

The best tour ever!

I did 5 short tours during my trip to the United States. This was the first and the best one. Nothing else came remotely close. Diane was genuinely friendly (there is a huge difference between those who are nice and those who just try to be), the tour was so well thought out, there were so many food stops and each were interesting and tasty. Even though I visit the farmer's market every time I come to LA, I still learned alot and got to try things I hadn't before. I had never ventured to 3rd street and even if I did I probably wouldn't have noticed the little gems of the stores that we stopped at. The street seems dull and mundane but it isn't. It was wonderful and definitely worth a visit after the end of the tour (which I did). This tour was incredible value for money and my being a vegetarian was well catered for (not the case with all the tours I did). This tour is a must (sounds crazy but it's true) for anyone coming to visit LA.

I took my 2 young teenage kids with me and we had a blast. We are from the area but still learned alot and met some great people from all over. It doesn't matter whether or not you are a "foodie" ... you will enjoy this tour and learn things. The guide was wonderful... personable and helpful. I really would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to do something different.

I spent two weeks in L.A. on vacation, and this tour ranks in the top three most memorable experiences. I arrived on the tour late due to getting mixed up with the bus system. Thanks to the cohesive duo of Diane and Lisa, I was able to find the tour group with no problems. Once I found them, I was immediately welcomed to the group. The tour itself was wonderful, as Diane provided the perspective of someone who truly loves what she does and where she lives. She talked not only about the food and establishments we were frequenting, but about nearby stores and other points of interests. She is certainly an insider to this corner of L.A., evidenced by her interactions with people and the degree of knowledge she holds. The food was phenomenal - made sweeter by the others in the tour group. Having a small group provided the opportunity to get to know one another; I met someone who had the same career interests I do. Following the tour, Diane was kind enough to spend a significant amount of time with me, given that I was late. We talked about our mutual interests, and it was uplifting to spend time with someone who loves life as much as she does. Overall, this tour fed not only my body, but my mind and soul.

This was truly one of the top highlights of our week long California excursion! Diane and Trish were absolutely fantastic, full of rich insights into the Market and the neighborhood, and food was stellar! It was a refreshing break from the typical L.A. touristy activities....definitely recommend this to all!
