| Went on this tour a few weeks ago with a friend. Some of the places she took us were great and I want to go back, but the tour was 4 hours long and could have easily been 1 to 2 hours instead. I felt we wasted a great deal of time while we stood in front of the meat market or fruit stand in the Farmers Market and the host listed off prices for us (which sounded like an infomercial!) The host tells many stories, some of which are charming, but most of which just seem like filler. My friend and I found ourselves tuning her out and we missed the few good things she had to say because we were so bored early on.
Also, while walking down 3rd street we stopped at some great places (Joan's and the Chado tea room were our favs) but we took a detour to talk about real estate and neighborhood prices. Waste of time.
I felt the $50/person was a little steep a price to pay since Melting Pot tours gets all the food we taste as free samples from the restaurants (which is GREAT advertising for them) and so they are making 100% profit. Good for them, but $100 (plus ticketing fee) was a bit expensive for what it was.
In conclusion, the places they take you are great, the food is great. The tour is a bit long-winded and boring. The price is, well, overpriced. |

| I had a large group of family visiting me for a graduation and decided to try this tour to show people around LA. We had an awesome time! I had been to the farmer's market, but never knew the stories or which stands were the best to eat at. I would definitely go back to the restaurants on Third St as well. The tour guide was very insightful and fun. Great food, neat stories, what more could you ask for?! |

| Our group consisted of three moms and four 11 to 12 year-old-girls, and everyone had a fantastic time. Diane, the leader, is fun, engaging, energetic...and has organized an absolutely wonderful tasting tour--the food was fantastic at every stop, and a lot of stops there were....I strongly recommend this tour to everyone who's a foodie or wannabe foodie or who just loves to have fun and eat. |

| This was so much fun! I have done these types of tours in other cities and am so glad that LA has one now. Diane, our guide was very knowledgable and the tastings were a good cross sections of the food at the Farmer's Market. I will definitely recommend this to family and friends, locals and out of towners!! |

| This activity was worth every penny and quite enjoyable and informative. Our guide was wonderful as she led us around & the places we stopped by were worth noting to come back to again. The samples were great and generous and of course, delicious. I would definitely recommend for individuals, couples, families. It's a great way to get around Farmer's Market if for the first time. |

| Start to finish, Melting Pot Tours served up a professionally polished, extremely informative experience. Expectations were "Food Tour" and collectively the group was excited for that, then it evolved into so much more. In-depth insight into not only the famous Farmers Market and it's deep history but also The Grove, 3rd street hot spots, Beverly Center and the adjoining neighborhoods was fantastic. Impressive samplings of a wide variety of wonderfully prepared foods were coupled with passionate conversation from each presenter along the way. Locals and visitors to L.A. take note, this should be on everyone's itinerary! |

| My husband and I had a fabulous Saturday morning tour of Farmer's Market and then a stroll down Third Street walking toward the Beverly Center. We ate samples all along the way - coffee and pastries to start the tour, then on to gourmet olives, cheese and breads, Brazilian food, Chinese chicken salad, macaroon cookies, Japanese noodles and sushi and so much more.
In the Farmer's Market we learned so much history that it makes us want to come back and try several of the restaurants and definitely want to shop at the meat market and produce stands.
Our tour guide, Diane, made sure to include everyone in the tour and kept up riveted with her commentaries. The Cooks Book store was the perfect ending to a foodie tour. Can't recommend it enough - especially to locals who may not know much about the Farmer's Market and the surrounding neighborhood. |
