I went on this Old Pasadena Food Tasting Tour in August with a couple of friends from out-of-state. I enjoyed it so much that this time, I brought another friend to celebrate her birthday. In August, our guide was Mike, who was very nice and informative. This time, our guide was Summer, who was also very pleasant and made us all feel at home. Our group had 13 people compared to my August tour which had only 6 people. There were 4 others who were also celebrating their birthdays. Summer helped celebrate by bringing out the slices of cake from one of the stops topped with 2 candles and everyone sang Happy Birthday. Just a thought....maybe Melting Pot should consider giving a special birthday discount to those who are celebrating their birthdays with the tour.
The pacing and food tasting was great. I enjoyed everything just as much this second time around. The best restaurant on the tour was Equator, which is a Asian fusion type of restaurant. They brought out a steaming plate of dim sum (pork dumplings), then a dish of Basil Mignon (tender chunks of filet mignon stir-fried with basil in a delectable brown sauce) and Orange Chicken. The food was to die for!!! It would have been nice if they gave us rice too but then again, if they did, we would have been too full to enjoy the rest of the tasting tour.
The variety of food tasting and shops was excellent. I highly recommend this tour to everyone. Almost everyone on this tour were locals (from SoCal) which was kind of surprising to me. But like me, I didn't know there were so many good eateries and interesting shops in Old Pasadena until I went on this tour. |

The Old Pasadena Tasting tour was a fun morning outing for my wife and me. We'd been to Pasadena before, but this was a new and different way of looking at the city. The tour guide, Summer, was very informative and nice. The restaurant stops along the way provided a good variety of different foods, snacks, and desserts. These are mostly family-owned restaurants. No need to have breakfast or lunch if you are taking this tour! Summer informed us about many aspects of Pasadena architecture and history. We think it was a good value, and would recommend it to our friends. |

The event was not awful, I would recommend it to my mom who does not go to restaurants often. But for me and my boyfriend who have been to some of the best restaurants in the world including NY and Paris, the restaurants on the tour were unimpressive.
I also thought it was awful that we were required to go around in a circle to share our names with the group.
I'm sure this experience would be great for Suzie and Bill from Kansas, but for someone with food demands equivalent to that of Gordon Ramsay I would skip it. |

My friends and I LOVED this tour. Lisa was the BEST!! Not only did you get to taste local fare but you got to discover restaurants you didn't even know were within a city so close to home. |

T can say without hesitation that I really enjoyed the tour/ I was quited impressed by the knowledge of our tour guide. I have lived in Southern California for more than seventy years and I learned a great deal about Pasadena. And to go with all of that our guide was very interesting. And the choice of business establishments that we v8isited was excellent. (Especially the food establishments.) |

We all enjoyed it and had a positive experience. I would emphasize more historical detail in the tour (not only the broad sweep of history but what happened to individuals like the Lucky Baldwin story. Proprietors were overall friendly and the food was good. Our group's favorite was the Mexican restaurant, with the falafels being the weakest. The soap store was interesting by the proprietor sold her product too hard for my taste. |

The walking and tasting tour was great! I would love to do it in other areas, Culver City would a shoe in.
The local information that Diane gave was very interesting. I've been to Pasadena many times but just on the main streets. The "jewels" in the alley ways and court yards were great, |
