Birthday celebration. Four women, four decades (40ish - 70ish). Some interesting choices for food stops and other shops. Went back to two shops after the tour to shop and will visit at least one restaurant in the future. Tour guide knowledgeable and engaging. |

The instructions on where to meet and when were clear and helpful. I greatly appreciate how the tour company never cancels a tour, unless there's f a natural disaster. Finding the meeting spot was a challenge during the night sky to see the address number and the business closing down didn't make it easier. The tour guide was very nice, friendly, thoughtful, enjoyable to learn from, pleasant, personable, and listened to questions and answered well. The tour was very interesting making the 3.5 hours seem like nothing. The food amount was great. I was pretty full by the end. I was surprised there was a soap store included since this was a food tour. Actually, it was the only place I bought something. The food tour was one of my highlights during my stay in Pasadena. Thank you very much for organizing such a fun and memorable event! |

My sister and I went to the Old Town Pasadena food tour on my birthday, and it was pure fun! There were 10 stops, 9 of which were food stops and one to the Soap Kitchen. Since there were only 8 people in our group, there were enough shared food portions to go around for seconds. The restaurant selections were excellently chosen: We visited an Asian fusion tapas-type bar, a Mexican restaurant, a Peruvian restaurant, a tea room, a Greek restaurant, a gelateria, etc. Our guide Sommer was so cheerful and friendly, and very knowledgeable about historic and intersting facts about the places in Old Town. On one of the dessert stops, Sommer had the cake with candles to celebrate my birthday, and she also gave me a birthday card. Such thoughtful gestures!
The only thing I wished for was more walking time in between the stops, to allow us to walk off some of the food. It progressively became harder to sample the dishes as we went from one nearby stop to the next. |

We just took the Old Town Pasadena tour. My husband and I enjoyed roaming through Pasadena's history filled streets and visiting specialty shops. Some of the food portions from the restaurants were a full meal. Make sure to go hungry. Summer our tour guide was very knowledgable and friendly. The weather was perfect and our group was fun. We highly recommend this tour! |

An absolutely wonderful food tour! It's the perfect balance of savory and sweet, plus you learn a lot of Pasadena history along the way. It's a great activity for friends, family, couples, and individuals. Highly recommended and I can't wait to try the company's other food tours! |

We had a great time touring Old Town Pasadena and enjoyed the many and variable foods on this tour. We would recommend this tour to anyone who likes history and/or food. |

We took the Old Pasadena Food Tour on the 27th Dec. We had read so many good reviews of it being the top thing to do in LA. So why not try it. It is sort of good. We skipped breakfast when we where under the impression that it's going to be so much food that we don't need a lunch, Wrong, if you are a normal eater you do need to eat afterwards. I think we were unlucky with the guide. Can't remember his name but we had expected a food lover that passionately would talk about food. The most he said to us was...' I like Indian food too' Not impressive. He did try to make converstion but it was heavy and he felt very uninspired by us. The best part was to actually try different kind of foods and get a bit of history. The worst part was to have to stand if front of closed restaurants and hear the guide talk about the food inside. Being from overseas (England) and leaving the day after if was very boring. The icecream place (Tutti Gelati) that was supposed to be so highly rated served a very bland chocolate and orange tasting. Good quality ice-cream is silky smooth, this one was grainy. I would change this place if I was the Melting Pot Tour.
A most disapointed part was also that no one came out from the restaurants to say hello (exept from one place, Equator), We didn't feel welcome at all. More in the way for other customers. The cake at the Aux Delices Bakery was nothing to speak about and it was very difficult to cut. The guide said that they always have trouble with it....so change the cake so we can have a nicely presented bite.
The food it self was very good at all places but was nothing magical. We loved the Tibet Nepal and the Father Nature tasting but that is of course very individual. The tour took 3 hours, that was 1 1/2 hours to long for visitors with not so much time on there hands like us. Saying that, with another guide it would problably be much better. And please let the guests try the whole range from the chocolate shop. Why couldn't we try the ones on the right hand side? Where they not so good or were they to expensive for us try???? The question lingers in the air.

We were highly impressed not only with the quality and variety of the food experiences we had on the Old Town Pasadena tour, but also with the depth of insight and knowledge our guide had about the history, architecture and cultural background of Old Pasadena. He was personable, sensitive to the groups' needs, and engaging. We highly recommend this tour! In fact, we are giving it as a Christmas gift to friends! |

This is our 2nd Melting Pot tour - did the Farmers Market/3rd Street one about a month ago and loved them both! Lisa and Diane do a fantastic job as hosts and guides providing architectural history of the surroundings as well as fun tidbits about the establishments we visited. It's also a plus to meet the store/restaurant owners and get to hear it all in their own words. The tastings are nicely paced - savory, savory sweet - throughout the 3 hour tour. They take you into these pockets of Los Angeles and introduce you to places and flavors you may not otherwise frequent or experience.
Now they just need one for the west side or Chinatown or evenings . . . ah, the possibilities. |
