AMAZING!

My husband and I LOVED this tour! We didn't want it to end. Starting from the beginning... the directions were very good and parking was a breeze. My husband is a lover of architecture and he really enjoyed hearing about the different buildings throughout the tour. We are total FOODIES and there was much flavor to be had. The first stop introduced us to a new favorite - the tortas! We wished for the Indian cuisine in between the mexican and our next stop, which was yummy falafel! Next it was Asian Fusion, which had dim-sum as well as mouth watering meats. Our sweet tooth was up for a treat with a delicious Opera cake at the next place. Our palates were tested at "Beyond the Olive". We enjoy oil and vinegar on our salads and this place really set the bar for us. After the tour, we went back to make a purchase - yum! We hope the next tour includes some beer at Lucky Baldwin's with reportedly over 60 beers on tap. Despite this, our thirst was quenched at the Bird Pick. We never realized how wonderfully different teas can smell and taste - great for the mouth and the nose. Speaking of nose... The Soap Kitchen was great. After the tour, we went back and picked up several gifts for friends and family. Our tour ended on a sweet tooth, at a three-generations, family owned Chocolate Boutique.... we are still savoring the morsels at home. There were several other places, where we sampled the food and/or the treats, each with a family history. OVERALL - FANTASTIC AND WORTH THE PRICE.

A fun and informative (and tasty!) experience

Our visit to the Farmer's Market and 3rd Street in Los Angeles, guided by Trish from Melting Pot Food Tours, was a great way to spend a few hours. We learned about the history of the Market and got to taste some wonderful samples of everything from doughnuts to cheese to olives to peanut butter. Then we walked down the fun 3rd Street, and sampled some more (tea, bundt cakes, Japanese food), learning along the way. The vendors were very generous with their time, telling the stories of how they came into their businesses. The highlight was probably our tour guide Trish who was knowledgeable, personable and very accessible. I'd recommend this as a fun activity for both those from the L.A. area and outsiders.

didn't meet my expectation

The tour did not meet my expectation. I came with my girlfriend to surprise her, and she and i did not enjoy it. We were expecting better food, but the food was not worth the $49.00 i paid for. All the food they gave us were less than $10.00. If i remember correctly, we went to 6 different tastings, and even skipped the soap sensory. You can call me a food critic, because i travel everywhere to find good food. I use the website Yelp, and there are only a couple of places on the tour that is worth returning to. The Bird Nest was a tea joint, and the tea was very delicious. Another place that is worth mentioning is the ice cream Gelato they took us to, that was very good also.

Lisa's knowledge of the area and tidbits of information on the history of Pasadena, combined with the yummy food tasting added an exceptional depth and wonder to this delightful experience. What a wonderful way to spend the day with friends and family, exploring Old Pasadena.

The food was yummy, the guide was fun and very knowledgable, the selection of vendors was well thought out - a perfect day. I took a friend as a Birthday treat and it was a hit!!! The entire group on the tour was enjoyable - all ages and types of people. I can't wait to try the Farmer's Market Tour!

Our tour guide, Trish, was informative and energetic. She interacted personally with us and kept the pace of our tour. The tastes were delicious and establishment owners were enthusiastic with one exception. I will schedule the Farmer's Market tour in the near future.

This is a great tour, excellent tour maestra, very knowledgeable, friendly, shows you a different face of L.A. At the beginning I wasn't very confident on taking the tour, but now I'm glad I did, I took another tour after this one and it was not even close... hope they do more tours, variety wise... My husband and I both enjoyed all aspects of this tour. Diane clearly enjoyed her job as hostess and we found her to be so very personable and knowledgeable. She made a point of getting to know us and enabled our group to really bond as a group despite our age and cultural differences. A great assortment of foods to taste and a nice variety of restaurants and food sources. Length of 3 1/2 hrs was perfect and the cost of $49 was quite reasonable. I would recommend this tour highly to anyone visiting California.

Pasadena Food Tour

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It was the 4th tour of this type I have taken, the others being in San Francisco and New York City. Lisa, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was great and we were stuffed by the end of the tour. I can't wait to get back to Pasadena and try some of the restaurants we either tried or walked past. I never realized how many hidden treasures there were just off Colorado Blvd.! An added bonus is learning the history of the Pasadena area, a real plus for me since I love history.

Yummy & Filling

I took a friend and her boyfriend for her birthday. We had a blast, and even Mark said he got enough to eat. Everything on the trip was scrumptious. The only thing I would change is to give more time for shopping at each location. We didnt get to buy anything but are planning a trip back shortly for a shopping day It was worth the money and would be great for any age group

A great find, even for "locals."
Sun, Oct 18  10:30 AM reenahais Female 60-69 Local Group of Friends
This tour ran smoothly and efficiently and provided even more than was promised. Each of the restaurants visited was expecting our group and welcomed us enthusiastically. The food portions were generous, considering this was a "tasting." The food selected for us at each restaurant was delicious, and most dishes were a specialty or signature dish of the chef. The order of the restaurants that we visited was well planned and while walking between restaurants, our guide provided interesting information and anecdotes about the area. It was apparent that our guide put a great deal of thought, planning and attention to detail into this tour. Out of town tourists and "locals" are sure to learn something new and have new taste experiences. It was well worth the price.

Old Town Pasadena Food Tour
Sun, Oct 18  10:30 AM TLowry524 Female 30-39 Local Family With Children
The tour was a birthday gift for my boyfriend. Our tour guide, Lisa, took us to lots of unique and out of the way places we may not have found on our own. She also had lots of interesting history of the area. The food at our first stop was very good and the sample was very generous. Although, it was said we would not need to eat afterwards, I felt the samples were not as filling as led to believe. We could have had a light breakfast and then the samples would have been filling. Overall, I would recommend this experience to anyone who has never been to Pasadena or would like a unique date.
