Melting Pot Food Tours

I've taken the Melting Pot Old Pasadena food tour four (4) times and have enjoyed them immensely. The guides have all been great, especially Summer. However, on our most recent tour on January 8, 2012, the quality of the food was disappointing. Specifically, the food which was served at three of the restaurants were lukewarm instead of fresh and hot. For all we knew, they brought out last night's leftovers. I don't understand why since there were no other customers in these three restaurants when we were there around noon time on a Sunday. Maybe that was a bad sign. I know the difference because the 3 previous Pasadena tours I've taken had good, hot food. You would think that these restaurants would want to make a good impression on us so that we would return and/or recommend them to friends and family. I would have given this tour a 5-star rating because our guide Summer was very nice and made sure that everyone was having a good time. However, the food served at Equator, Father Nature and Choza Mama was disappointing so I have to knock it down a notch. I'm hoping they will be made aware of this comment and improve their food. Otherwise, I doubt I will take this tour again.

We took the Metrolink to Pasadena, which conveniently dropped us a block away from the starting point. Barbara, our guide , was friendly , professional and very informative. She pointed out places on the tour we never would've noticed, and added in historical facts about Old Pasadena . Every stop was well coordinated and organized, and the foods were interesting and delicious. It never felt rushed or hectic, the pace was relaxed. I also appreciated the family run businesses, and the stories behind them. It was a lovely day and I will be trying other food tours with this company!

We thoroughly enjoyed the walk and food. I think my husband would have perferred to skip the tea and soap shops. Also, it would have been nice to have time to enjoy a glass of wine at the restaurants. Thanks.

We were a group of 5, friends & family, 4 of us visiting from Georgia & one long time Pasadena resident. We had the best time. Our guide, Kendall, was very informative, very pleasant and lots of fun. Everyone in our group would recommend this tour of Old Pasadena shops & restaurants. My aunt, the Pasadena resident, was introduced to a couple of restaurants & shoppes she didnt even know were there. Great job!

I bought tickets to melting pot tours as a christmas gift for my husband. He loved it!! We are both native southern californians and had no idea there was so much history and diversity in. Pasadena. Our tour guide was Summer and she did a fantastic job of mixing local history in with the food tour. The tour itself was fun and the food was yummy. I have recommended this tour to my friends and can't wait to go on another food tour.

Interesting background information about the history of the shops and local, delightfully seasoned with unique and delicious food! A treat of a day!

The food, restaurants and shops were stellar. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The owners of the restaurants/shops provided us with great information and were pleasant. It was a beautiful day and we loved everything about this trip. The one concern was the location where we met. It was not marked because the restaurant went out of business so we were a little confused but other than that we loved it

The Melting Pot tour was absolutely scrumptious! We learned all about the history of the Farmer's Market and met many of the owners of the establishments....while dining on their specialties. We then walked down 3rd Street and visited several other fabulous restaurants and sampled their dishes. I highly recommend this tour as we had a wonderful time and learned a lot about our fabulous city!

Fun and informative and tasty

The instructions on where to meet and when were clear and helpful. I greatly appreciate how the tour company never cancels a tour, unless there's f a natural disaster. Finding the meeting spot was a challenge during the night sky to see the address number and the business closing down didn't make it easier. The tour guide was very nice, friendly, thoughtful, enjoyable to learn from, pleasant, personable, and listened to questions and answered well. The tour was very interesting making the 3.5 hours seem like nothing. The food amount was great. I was pretty full by the end. I was surprised there was a soap store included since this was a food tour. Actually, it was the only place I bought something. The food tour was one of my highlights during my stay in Pasadena. Thank you very much for organizing such a fun and memorable event!

The old Pasadena itself is wonderful city. The tour was so organized and interesting. Because of small tour group and friendly people I could really enjoy the tour and feel relaxed. I highly recommend this tour.

I have done both the Pasadena Tour as well as the Farmers Market. Both were terrific. Not only was our tour guide full of local insight, the spots chosen were fantastic. The food was delicious (and alot of it!), and the locations along with the background stories made it even more unique. I highly recommend the tour and our whole group is still commenting on what a wonderful day we had.

Great way to learn about the city! Good variety and amount of tastings! We bought at several store/ restaurants!

This is my second time on the tour but this time I took my brother. We both had a great time. Kendall is awesome; nice to see her and Brian again!

Not only was it a great tasting tour of the Farmer's Market, but the surrounding neighborhood too. Very informative and great fun.
