3 Years Later & Melting Pot Food Tour Still Rocks!

My husband and I decided to treat my mom for her birthday to a Melting Pot Food Tour. It had been 3 years since our last tour, so we were pretty excited to see what had changed. We had the pleasure of having Lisa (we had her sister Diane on our previous tour) as our tour guide this time around. Lisa was just as fun and knowledgeable about the area, the history, and the businesses that we visited. My mom had a great time, and we are so thankful that we decided to try this tour again. |

This is our second Melting Pot tour and we loved it. Summer was a great guide, just as much fun and as knowledgable as her sister Kendell who we had in LA. The group we were with was fun, we got to taste a lot of great food and were completely full by the end of our tour. I highly recommend this tour even if you've been to Pasadena before. It's a great way to get to see all the nooks and crannies behind the main drag. |

you might have been to farmer's market in LA because it's so raved about, but the food sure taste much better when you know about the history/story behind the people cooking your food! our food guide, Diane, is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and it makes the tour so much educational and fun! we also explored 3rd street and got to see outside farmer's market, which is definitely a bonus! dont think that the portions are too small because at the end of the tour, you will rather walk than take the bus back to the market! |

This walking tour was well worth the time and money. The many stops are diverse. Lots of food sampling and many in our group went back to several of the shops and restaurants for longer visits after this overview walking tour. We HIGHLY recommend this tour. A great way to see and learn about Old Pasadena. |

Our tour guide was awesome and the business owners were awsome.
Lot of food, but make dietary restrictions known early works out even better.
Olive Oil place and the Asian and Peruvian resturants are great. Good chocolate, The Best Opera cake.
..Just go, you'll see.
GREAT tour. |

I really enjoyed the tour. It was something different for my husband and I. We recommend it highly. We found out about places that we will definitely revisit. We also have lots of new places to take visitors as we are always the designated tour guides for guests. |

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and our tour guide Summer. She was quite informed and shared a lot of interesting information with us. One thing my friend thought of: "I wish we had entered China town, since we were right there." Just a thought . . . . VERY enjoyable. |

...would have taken much longer to get all those insights if not for this tour - an issue when you have limited time in town! Plus..we were stuffed at the end of it but more importantly, stuffed only with good food - not guaranteed if you are just wondering around and picking it by yourself.
Also, Lisa was invaluable in pointing out which restaurants to get to whilst in LA - this made our trip even more memorable - thanks! |

THE TOUR WAS MORE THAN PROMISED. WORTH EVERY PENNY. OUR GUIDE WAS WELL VERSED IN THE HISTORY OF THE FARMERS MARKET AND SURROUNDING AREA. THE GREETINGS FROM THE MERCHANTS AND LOCALS MADE US FEEL RIGHT AT HOME IN HER COMPANY. THE SAMPLES WERE GENEROUS, AND FILLING, AND THE GUIDES ATTENTION TO EVERYONE, TO ENSURE WE HAD ENOUGH AND WERE COMFORTABLE WAS AMAZING.
MY ONLY TWO NEGATIVES WERE: I WISH THERE HAD BEEN AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE SUSHI, THE LEAST POPULAR STOP IN OUR GROUP.
AND, AND THIS IS BIG...THE PARKING VALIDATION WE WERE GIVEN, WAS LONG EXPIRED. THANKS TO THE CASHIER AT THE PARKING GATE OF THE FARMERS MARKET, WE WERE ABLE TO HAVE OUR FEE ADJUSTED, BUT THE VALIDATION TICKET WE WERE GIVEN EXPIRED LAST YEAR, AND IT WAS QUITE EMBARRASSING AND A DOWNER TO AN OTHERWISE EXTRAORDINARY AND PERFECT DAY.
BEYOND THAT MY WIFE AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE TOUR AND LOOK FORWARD TO OTHER TOURS WHEN WE RETURN TO THE LA AREA. |

We loved the part at the Farmer's market and wished they would have stayed there and visited more food places. After we left the Farmer's market the walk was a tad long between the restaurants and it wasn't in the nicest area during parts of it. I don't know if it was due to having a large tour group, but the amount of food we ate was less than on the Pasadena tour. By the time we walked back to the Farmer's Market we were hungry again. |

The tour was fantastic, Visiting my daughter & her boyfriend who recently moved to Pasadena. They discovered many things about Pasadena that they can do on their own & loved the tour as well. Guide knew her stuff & had good rapport with all the vendors. Ate some foods that would probably have never known about & will most definitely return to those restaurants in the future. Loved "The Soap Kitchen" & am already planning to order more soap as gifts. The couryards that we walked through are absolutely beautiful! ( I plan to give my daughter tickets to the Los Angeles Farmer's Market tour as a gift.) |
