JUST DO IT!

This is our 2nd Melting Pot tour - did the Farmers Market/3rd Street one about a month ago and loved them both! Lisa and Diane do a fantastic job as hosts and guides providing architectural history of the surroundings as well as fun tidbits about the establishments we visited. It's also a plus to meet the store/restaurant owners and get to hear it all in their own words. The tastings are nicely paced - savory, savory sweet - throughout the 3 hour tour. They take you into these pockets of Los Angeles and introduce you to places and flavors you may not otherwise frequent or experience. Now they just need one for the west side or Chinatown or evenings . . . ah, the possibilities.

I loved the insiders view of the area! I'll be returning to dine and shop. I'm actually really excited about the chance to explore.

I treated myself to this walking tour as I was unfamiliar with that particular part of town. I am glad I did. A great way to get to know that area with wonderful, knowledgeable tour guides and plenty of sampling along the way and a chance to meet most of the store owners who provided us detailed information on their shops and their products. An unforgettable experience and one that I will do again with friends and family

A fun and informative (and tasty!) experience

Our visit to the Farmer's Market and 3rd Street in Los Angeles, guided by Trish from Melting Pot Food Tours, was a great way to spend a few hours. We learned about the history of the Market and got to taste some wonderful samples of everything from doughnuts to cheese to olives to peanut butter. Then we walked down the fun 3rd Street, and sampled some more (tea, bundt cakes, Japanese food), learning along the way. The vendors were very generous with their time, telling the stories of how they came into their businesses. The highlight was probably our tour guide Trish who was knowledgeable, personable and very accessible. I'd recommend this as a fun activity for both those from the L.A. area and outsiders.

Lisa's knowledge of the area and tidbits of information on the history of Pasadena, combined with the yummy food tasting added an exceptional depth and wonder to this delightful experience. What a wonderful way to spend the day with friends and family, exploring Old Pasadena.

The food was yummy, the guide was fun and very knowledgable, the selection of vendors was well thought out - a perfect day. I took a friend as a Birthday treat and it was a hit!!! The entire group on the tour was enjoyable - all ages and types of people. I can't wait to try the Farmer's Market Tour!

Pasadena Food Tour

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It was the 4th tour of this type I have taken, the others being in San Francisco and New York City. Lisa, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was great and we were stuffed by the end of the tour. I can't wait to get back to Pasadena and try some of the restaurants we either tried or walked past. I never realized how many hidden treasures there were just off Colorado Blvd.! An added bonus is learning the history of the Pasadena area, a real plus for me since I love history.

A great find, even for "locals."

This tour ran smoothly and efficiently and provided even more than was promised. Each of the restaurants visited was expecting our group and welcomed us enthusiastically. The food portions were generous, considering this was a "tasting." The food selected for us at each restaurant was delicious, and most dishes were a specialty or signature dish of the chef. The order of the restaurants that we visited was well planned and while walking between restaurants, our guide provided interesting information and anecdotes about the area. It was apparent that our guide put a great deal of thought, planning and attention to detail into this tour. Out of town tourists and "locals" are sure to learn something new and have new taste experiences. It was well worth the price.

Old Town Pasadena Food Tour

The tour was a birthday gift for my boyfriend. Our tour guide, Lisa, took us to lots of unique and out of the way places we may not have found on our own. She also had lots of interesting history of the area. The food at our first stop was very good and the sample was very generous. Although, it was said we would not need to eat afterwards, I felt the samples were not as filling as led to believe. We could have had a light breakfast and then the samples would have been filling. Overall, I would recommend this experience to anyone who has never been to Pasadena or would like a unique date.

Highly recommended. Very interesting. Great guide. Learned a little about the history of Pasadena and about some of the history behind the buildings. Food places were great!. You didn't leave hungry! Loved seeing the Soap Kitchen and learning how the owner made her soaps. Wonderful experience. Don't miss it!

Excellent way to pass a few hours on a weekend

We took the Farmers Market Tour last August, and enjoyed it tremendously. When we heard they were doing an Old Pasadena Tour, we were anxious to take this one also. The guide, Trish, was very friendly, and knowledgable about the area. There were just the right amount of tasting stops, and they were varied enough so we didn't feel overwhelmed by any one style of food. I would highly recommend Melting Pot Tours to anyone who wants something different for themselves, or for out of town guests.

"Private" tour
Wed, Oct 7  9:30 AM scclim Female 30-39 Local Group of Friends
My friend and I signed up for the Farmer's Market Tour. It ended up to be a semi-private tour. The guide was knowledgeable and accommodating. Needless to say, my friend and I got good serving of food, considering we were the only ones who went on the tour. I like to eat and learn a little history along the way. I like the brochure of the planned locations we will frequent and the locations of the places where samples would be given. Since it is a small tour, it is fine without some type of special head phones. But, I can imagine if the group was any more than 8 people, we would need some special head phones to hear the guide, as the market can be a loud place.
