Great introduction to Boston's Chineese culture

Our guide was very knowledgeable about the food, customs and culture of the area. Getting to try the various baked or BBQ'd items was so much better than just seeing them.

My fiance and I cannot stop talking about this outstanding tour. It far exceeded our expectations. Our guide Jim was friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable. The tour was fast-paced, fun, and captivating. The time flew by and we were sorry to see it end. We visited shops and restaurants that we certainly would have overlooked on our own. Jim has formed an excellent relationship with Chinatown businesses and the men and women were happy to see him. As a result, we felt welcomed at every stop. Whether you have lived in Boston for years or are visiting for the first time, this tour is a "must see".

Jim does a great job of educating you on the culture, food and history of Chinatown. We never visit this section of town and it was great to be less intimidated and enjoy some many different people, places and tastes. Highly recommend this tour, well worth the money.

Jim's knowledge of Chinese cuisine was impressive. He maintained a high standard of enthusiasm throughout the tour and dim sum lunch, which kept us all going. The tastes of different foods in bakeries and food stalls were fun.

The guide did exactly what he said he hoped to achieve; I'll go to Chinatown more and not feel totally intimidated. Also, it was great to get to snack along the way!

Wonderful way to experience Chinatown Boston

I am fascinated with American Chinese neighborhoods. Recently toured San Francisco but the only food we had was a dim sum luncheon. This Boston tour was different from my prior experience. Food oriented and we got to try out Chinese barbecue, pastries, bubble tea, and dim sum. I had no idea what bubble tea was and it was very good. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. I also know where I can find good Chinese ingredients at their supermarket in Chinatown. Learned about dim sum at our lunch as our guide picked out things to try. Very enjoyable day.

Really enjoyed learning about the geography & culture of various sections of China in the guide's historical perspective offered at the beginning of the tour. Most things we knew nothing about. Our tour guide (Lang?) was a good speaker & really knew the Boston Chinatown area very well. She was able to keep our group out of the way of regular customers in the shops - which I'm sure the shopkeepers appreciated. Although much of the food at the lunch was not anything we we would probably ever order again, it was still very nice to learn about it & see how it was presented.

Tour Guides are Important

I think I need to write to you (Michele) as there was so much wrong with this tour. I took your North End Tour and loved it. I was so looking forward to enjoying Chinatown. If I had taken the Chinatown tour first I would never have tried the North End. So much depends on a tour guide.

I enjoyed the market tour and found the introductory talk very informative. We had a great weather, which was really helpful. If the weather were bad, I would not have enjoyed the tour because so much of it, including eating some pastry, was outdoors. I really liked our guide. She was really enthusiastic and gave us just enough information. The dim sum was good, but the place was so noisy that it was hard to hear the descriptions of what we were eating.
