Boston Chinatown Market Tour

Our tour guide Jim Becker was outstanding, very informed and was very pleased to show us around. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone that has an idea of coming to Boston and wants to get a flavor of China town!!

Very interesting with lots of facts and opportunities to taste new and different foods and beverages. Absolutely fascinating tour! Loved every minute! Guide was very knowledgeable!

The Chinatown tour is a terrific introduction to a neighborhood you probably would otherwise never get to know. Shops, restaurants, bakers, butchers -- you'll be looking for excuses to drag friends along and show them what you've discovered. And for pure entertainment, you can't do a lot better with three hours on a Saturday morning. Highly recommended.

This was the best organized tour I've ever taken (and I've been all over the world). Jim our guide was personable, knowledgeable - he made everything (even history for someone who never cared for the subject) a LOT of fun. The taste samples were plentiful - I loved the artful little touch of the wee Chinese take out box! and the dim sum lunch was filling and a huge treat at the end of the walk. I enjoyed the tour immensely and felt that I had been to China in one afternoon! A great cultural and cooking immersion - great for foodies and adventurers all!

Jim was our excellent tourguide for the Chinatown market tour. He is a professional chef and speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin, and very knowledgable. He gave us an overview of the different types of foods and cooking techniques in the various regions of China, brought us to a tea shop, a chinese herbal pharmacy (fascinating!), a chinese bakery, a chinese market, and lastly a wonderful dim sum lunch. I highly recommend the tour.

As a result of the tour, I feel much more comfortable exploring Chinatown on my own -- fascinating insights, history, anecdotes kept tour lively and fun! Look forward to going back soon! I highly recommend this tour!

Tour guide, Jim, was able to speak chinese, communicated well with vendors, and helped us get an inside tour of local bakeries, bar-B-KQ , supermarket, candy store, pharmacy and a great Sim Dum luncheon. We feel very confident now to return to Chinatown with some recommendations for purchases and restaurants . Jim gave historical perspective to the formation of Chinatown and chinese customs as well, bringing in much from his living in far east. I highly recommend this tour with Jim Becker as your guide.

What a wonderful tour with a very experienced and knowledgeable guide. Jim has so much information which he shares enthusiastically with the group.The sun shone as we walked around the streets tasting lovely cakes and sweets finishing with an amazing dim sum lunch.I have taken both the China town and the North End tours and would highly recommend them both.

Our tour guide, Jim, was extremely knowledgeable and amiable. It was an insider's tour to a foreign culture given in a very relaxed way. The tour stops included a wide variety of diversions covering culinary experiences from sweet to salty and from indulgences to medicinal remedies. By far the most informative and entertaining tour I've experienced.

Althought the tour itself and the guide were truly excellent, I found Chinatown to be unwelcoming. While we were on tour with Jim and receiving a thorough history and "tasting" of Chinatown which were delightful and well researched... off tour my friend and I received very unwelcoming response from shopkeepers. We ventured back to the locations we had just been well received in with Jim to realize we were not quite welcome on our own. My response from the locals is not at all a reflection on the tour or the tour company. I would give the tour a grade letter of "A" but the location would be graded a "C".
