Boston Chinatown Market Tour

Enjoyed the tour, food and history of the area. Our guide was very knowledgeable.

Jacqueline was our very capable guide, and she was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and had a good sense of humor! She shared treasures and stories that covered regional chinese foods, customs, local markets, medical herb treatments, and even a very smelly live chicken shop. It was cold and slightly rainy, but the weather didn't matter, as we were off from one adventure to another, with lots of different tastings, in a very compact area. I especially appreciated the way Jacqueline was very adept at encouraging and answering a wide range of questions by tour group participants. I would recommend this to any foodie, rain or shine.

Our guide and tour were fantastic - we had a small group and we all interacted and asked questions at will - We all got along wonderfully and we had such fun at the Dim Sum! Our tour guide told us enough history and back data to keep our interest but also kept us moving! I have already told all my friends about this tour!!

Our tour guide (Jim Becker) was very knowledgeable about the history of Chinatown as well as the food. He speaks Chinese and has a relationship with the shop owners. We visited some very interesting shops including a Chinese pharmacy full of herbal remedies. We visited the grocery store and learned about many of the products. And of course we tasted some wonderful food. It ended with a delicious dim sum lunch. I also highly recommend the Little Italy tour which we did a couple of years ago. I wish there were more like this.

I recently moved close to Chinatown, and although I was sure I could benefit from the shops and restaurants, I was intimidated. Jim was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in introducing us to the shops, cuisine and customs! I have since become a frequent visitor!

Jackie was a great tour guide! I have lived in the Boston area for many years and love to eat and cook, but have always felt intimidated by eating or shopping in Chinatown. The tour was a great introduction to Chinatown's history, restaurants, and shopping. I'm already planning my next visit to Chinatown to stop at the market and try a new restaurant. I've never done a food tour before but will definitely do more in the future. Thanks for the great experience!

We really enjoyed this tour - one of us has been to China and we are familiar with the cuisines of different regions, but we still learned some new things, as well as a few great places to go in Chinatown. The guide was very entertaining and informative, and shared her own experiences as a resident of the area, someone who enjoys food, and lives from a life of different Asian cultures and influences. I highly recommend this tour!

I'm a life long resident of the Boston area and always found Chinatown to be an intimidating place. Our tour guide, Jim, completely changed that!. He is very knowledgeable about the history of the area and has many connections with the best shops to visit now. Thoroughly enjoyed this tour!

Our tour guide, Jim Becker, was outstanding! Jim's knowledge of the area provided an entertaining and educational presentation of Chinatown. He provided us with informational packets to prepare us for future visits to Chinatown. We visited several food shops along the way and were given some samples of the food served in Chinatown. At our final stop, Jim selected several plates of food for our group to sample an authentic Chinese meal at one of the restaurants. This tour was undeniably enjoyed by all who attended! We spoke with several other members in the group who had also attended the Italian tour through Michele Topor and are coordinating dates to make that tour, too! . .
