Jim was a fantastic tour guide! My brother and I enjoyed the tour so much and we learned more than we ever expected to about Chinese food and culture! I now feel confident finding my way around Chinatown to eat and shop. Thank you Jim, for sharing your knowledge with us! You were a warm and welcoming host who made everyone feel like honored guests on the tour! |

Great tour, and Jim was a great guide all around. We've eaten in Chinatown many times but learned all sorts of interesting stuff. We'll definitely do his North End tour sometime. |

I loved the North End tour so much that I took it twice, but the Chinatown beats it hands down. Terrific guide with deep knowledge of Chinese culture, history and cuisine. Looking forward to taking this one again. |

Jim, our tour guide, provided a wealth of information, along with a great sense of humor. I absolutely loved visiting the supermarket and learning about the variety of Asian veggies and how to cook them. The herbalist shop was wonderful and Jim shared his knowledge about different products and their uses. I enjoyed visiting the two bakeries for a taste of traditional and not so traditional pastries and loved trying the bubble tea. Listening to Jim describe the history of Boston's Chinatown and the hardships the folks had to endure was a great lesson. The dim sum luncheon was nice. After the tour was over, we went back to the herbal shop. All in all, lots of fun. I did the North End tour in the past and go back to my favorite places at least three or four times a year. I plan to do the same with Chinatown now that I feel more comfortable. Thanks, Jim! |

To start the tour, the guide talked about Chinese cooking & culture for 15 minutes or so (may have been shorter, but the cold wind made it seem very long to sit in the open). Given taste of foods at approximately 4 different shops. Tried some new (to me) food items including "bubble tea". A variety of dim sum plus Chinese "tamales" & tea were included to wind up the tour at a restaurant. Couldn't convince myself to taste the chicken feet, however. |

When we arrived at the appointed time we were so happy and surprised to see that "Jim" was to be our tour guide as he had been for our North End Tour. Jim's enthusiasm and knowledge totally won over the group right from the start. I am speaking for several of us when I say that I was apprehensive about Chinatown as it was so foreign to our thinking which is why we wanted the tour. The tour dispelled all fears as Jim's familiarity with the region and shop keepers and his knowledge of the language made it very much a learning experience for us. We all especially enjoyed the total chinese dining experience and dim sum at the conclusion of our tour. We will go back to Chinatown because Jim sort of 'broke trail' for us to be able to do that on our own. Thanks again Jim for another super experience in Boston. |

The Boston Chinatown Market Tour was incredible. My friends and I had such a great time learning and eating our way through Chinatown.
Jim Becker was outstanding as our guide. He gave exceptional information about places to see, shop and dine. He is both humerous and interesting. We highly recommend this tour. |

Our tour guide, Jackie, began the tour with a talk of how Chinatown was settled and how it arrived at it's present status. We enjoyed the park and watching men gather to play a game like chess as we listened. Our visits to the various shops was very interesting. We learned about the butcher and fresh meats, bakeries, pharmacies and various stops along the way. Our tour ended with a Dim Sum lunch which was wonderful.
My only suggestion would be to stop at an authentic Chinese shop where we could have bought a string bag, chop sticks for children or some sort of a momento.
Jackie did a fine job and we really enjoyed the tour. |

On a warm sunny day our group wandered through Chinatown, stopping for talks by our amiable, knowledgeable guide Jacqueline Church on the history of Chinatown and its people and architecture. We were welcomed by a variety of local food shops, bakeries, and markets with food samples and recipes. The tour ended with an all-you-can eat delicious dim sum lunch at a clean, pleasant typical Chinatown restaurant, with each successive course being described and explained by Jacqueline. My adult daughter and I were delighted by the entire experience. |
