North End Market Tour

My sisters and I recently participated in the North End Market Tour. It was one of best things we did on our trip to Boston! Everyone should take advantage of this activity. It is a great way to experience the "local" culture of this neighborhood. Our food guide--Jim--was exceptional and very knowledgeable about Italian food/cooking and the culture as he led us through the North End and it's market places.

Had an excellent time. I learned sooo much and although the tour was 3 hours at the end we all wished it would continue. I would definately do this again.

The North End tour was fantastic. It was great to get a different perspective of the North End, where previously we only went to eat at a restaurant. We now understand and appreciate the evolution of the Italians in Boston, and how they have maintained their heritage in cooking. The guide was very good, and the shops we visited were very accomadating. I would recomment this to anyone interested in Italian cooking or eating!

I enjoyed the tour but... I was disappointed it was not michele. The tour lleader was adequate but talked too much and made us sit and listen rather than get going. I was a bit bored. I missed Michele and her enthusiasm

The tour was wonderful. Just long enough and filled with info.

This was my 3rd time taking the tour. The last time I took it was on a January morning several years ago. My boyfriend and I had been in to the NE for dinner with this other couple several times and I suggested the tour. I made the reservations months ago so we all had it to look forward too as an early Fall event. Our guide (Jim) was very enthusiastic and knowledgable and having a little rain was not an issue. My fears that the friends would not be interested were put to rest within the first few minutes when they kept saying, "I never knew this, I had no idea, etc., etc" and had some questions. We all learned a great deal -- all of us worked in produce at some point in our lives but never knew of the male and female eggplants! I have e-mailed the link for the tours to a few co-workers, an Insurance agent friend, and to my chiropractor in just this week because I had shared with each what a nice take it is. We'll be booking the China town tour soon!

Four of us attended a Saturday tour - we had a great time even though it was raining a little (on and off) - Jim was our guide and he couldn't have told us more information - he was constantly talking and giving us a history lessson of the area and reviews or recommendations for products. I would recommend this tour to anyone!!!

WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OUR TOUR. OUR TOUR GUIDE WAS EXCEPTIONAL. VERY WELL SPOKEN AND KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE AREA. GREAT BACKGROUND INFO. THE STORES WE VISITED WE TOP NOTCH.. ENJOYED ALL THE GOODIES AND TOOK SOME HOME. WILL BE COMING BACK WITH THE GUYS NEXT TIME!!!! ALSO, IT WAS VERY NICE OF MICHELE TO GIVE A CREDIT TO MY FRIEND WHO WAS UNABLE TO MAKE IT DUE TO ILLNESS. THANK YOU!

It was fun to learn more about the neighborhood, and the shopkeepers were awesome!
