Tasty Italian Treats

We loved all the sweet samples along the way! Our tour guide was enthusiastic and well informed. You walk away with a map, a list of North End businesses, and a restaurant guide. Really cannot wait to go back to some of the stores we visited and try some of the others we only heard about. Definitely not for the claustrophobic - stores are small and crowded!

The North End Market Tour with Michele Topor, as the guide, was just as interesting, if not better, than the first time I first took the tour 3 years ago! I learned even more about Italian cuisine and the history of this quaint neighborhood in Boston's north end. Michele's enthusiasm and love of this historic section of Boston is so evident in her presentation. For anyone who loves food, shopping and history...this is the tour for you!

maria's bakery

My friend and I both bought bread at Maria's Bakery. I thought it seemed very hard to the touch, but the salesperson said it was soft on the inside. Both my friend and I found when we got home that the bread we purchased was hard as a rock, clear through, and we threw it out. This was a real disappointment as we had looked forward to getting some old fashioned Italian bread in the North End. Otherwise, the tour was fine. Shirley Gladding

This was my second tour, a gift to my parents. I also brought my husband and kids ages 12 and 9. Everyone had a wonderful time learning about the culture and customs, tasting goodies from all of our stops and getting to know the North End beyond Hanover street. We had a wonderful day as a family!

I took this food tour with my husband and some friends and came away wishing it would have never ended. I have been on food tours throughout the country and I would have to rank this at the top of my list. Not only was the neighborhood charming and delightful, the food delicious, the information engaging, but our guide was simply wonderful. I am a teacher and as I enjoyed his delivery, I could not help but be impressed by his style, knowledge base, and his ability to teach in a way that kept everyone glued to his message. I cannot recommend this tour enough and can not imagine anyone walking away with anything but delight.

The guide was excellent. I learned more about Italian cooking in three hours than I had learned in the last 10 years. Highly recommend.

Our guide was great (Jim), very knowledgable, enthusiastic and interesting. He told us the history of the North End, and shared its culinary history as well. We visited shops I had never seen before despite having lived in Boston for 14 years. We learned about olive oil, tasted pastry, tried the best prosciutto, and much, much more. It was fun, interesting, we learned a lot, we ate a lot, and overall it was one of the best tours I have ever been on. I put in photos and more information on my website: www.lovebostonwithme.com Link directly to the photos: http://www.lovebostonwithme.com/Boston/North_End_Market_Tour_photos.html I highly recommend this tour if you love food, can walk for 3 hours without much sitting down, enjoy learning history of the North End.

This was part of my sister's Bachelorette Party & it was a great activity choice. The tour was fun & very informative & we're all locals. I learned so many new things about the history of an area that I've often eaten & shopped in .Our tour guide Jim was phenomenal.... he kept things light & fun, while still providing us with numerous historical facts, shopping & cooking tips. Not too mention the great new places to shop. The stops on the tour were all friendly & inviting, & the samples they provided were all delicious. I will definitely frequent my new discoveries. I highly recommend this to both locals & tourists, you won't be bored. I'm going to tell everyone I know about this. I can't wait to take more of their tours!
