North End Market Tour

It was a chilly day to be outside and we had our reservation on attending the tour because of the weather. Regardless we headed into the city and did not have one regret . The tour was extremely informative, interesting and thought provoking of my italian heritage. I have been telling everyone about all of the things I learned. My Mom and I loved it! It was a wonderful birthday present to her. Thank you!

We had a great time, despite the cold temps. Jim was so knowledgeable and although we made some purchases - I look forward to getting back and shopping more. Our friends from Syracuse, NY loved it too - hope to get them back for a China Town tour.

It was beyond my expectations. My friend and I learned so much, more than we anticipated. I am already telling everyone I know to do this tour. Our guide, Jim, was so cordial, informative and just an overall excellent guide. I have lived in the Back Bay for 11 years and I can't believe it has taken me this long to discover this wonderful tour. I can't wait to invite friends to join me for the Chinatown tour. The tour, in every aspect was just perfect. From the amount of new information I obtained, to the delicious samples we were given, and to the expertise and warm personality of Jim the tour guide, it was just fantastic. I took my Mother, as a birthday present, who is a chef herself, an Italian-American who grew up in MA, and some one who loves cuisine and the North End. She is still talking about the tour, and how perfect it was. She was so pleasantly surprised and impessed with it, as was I. She couldnt believe how much she learned about Italy, her italian-american history and customs, local history, and about gastronomy in general. It gave her, and I, I greater appreciation for our family, the history of the area, and enriched our eating experiences! I would recommend this to anyone that has a true passion for cuisine or history, regardless if you are Italian or not! I cant say enough..!

The North End tour in Boston was very enjoyable. Despite the bad weather on the day (cold and rain), and the fact that only two people showed up to take the tour, it didn't detract at all from the day. Our tour guide was lovely and very knowledgable about the area and of course about the Italian history and food. Unfortunately my time in Boston was so short that I didn't get an opportunity to go back to the area and to any of the restaurants which were recommended to us. Next time I am visiting I will definately do just that. I might even take the tour again!

I thouroughly enjoyed this tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the north end, italian culture, cuisine and food.

The tour presenter (Dick?) was excellent but some of the establishments were too small so we had to remain outside in bad weather. It was a great way to get comfortable with exploring side streets instead of just staying on Hanover Street, which most of us tend to do

I'd taken this tour about 3 years ago with my cousin, and had really enjoyed it. I decided to introduce my friend to the tour, since she enjoys cooking and studying about other cultures. Jim Becker had lots of cultural information to share with us and answered all our questions. We enjoyed all the food and especially our meal at Artu's after the tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone who has been to Boston and visited all the usual sites. We really enjoyed our day despite the snowstorm. Thanks again! Jane O'Keefe

We live in the area and have visited the North End many times. Finally, we have a true appreciation for the area and feel comfortable venturing off Hanover Street. Our guide, a trained chef, was terrific. He included enough history, culinary terms, person experience, etc. to make the trip something we'd highly recommend. In fact, we already have!

On a very cold and sunny Saturday in February, a grop of friends set out on a North End Market Tour. We had a thoroughly enjoyable and educational time. Our tour leader, Jim, was gracious and well-informed. Our tour included all the highlights of the North End and the shop owners seemed to be expecting us! We received a lot of good take-away information for future reference. We look forward to going on the Chinatown Tour next!
