The tour was exactly as advertised, and our tour guide was excellent and knowledgeable. Even though it stated in advance information that there would be no rest stops it should be designed that after the first 90 minutes a shop should be found to sit for about 10 minutes. It is tough to go for 3 hours with almost no rest.
I would highly recommend this tour as the amount of information that you get is invaluable, both for visitors to Boston and also for residents. All places visited were high quality and my wife and I enjoyed retracing the route after the tour and making some purchases. A number of restaurants were mentioned and we had a great lunch in one of them. A five star experience, but exhausting for those of us who are no longer 20, 30, or 40. |

Having lived in Boston for a number of years, I had never explored the North End. We had a most excellent tour from Jim, who is a professional chef. He was a repository of most interesting information about Italian products, and knew the North end well. My daughter and I were so inspired that she is giving an Italian dinner party. I am looking forward to returning and buying groceries at the shops we visited.
I highly recommend this tour. |

Our tour guide, Jim added such depth of information about the North End. The tips on cooking and the ingredients made us want to come back and have a "Little Italy" themed dinner party and now we know just where to order the authentic staples that we will need. The tour went by so quickly and there was so much to absorb that we plan to come back and do the tour again. |

I can't say enough wonderful things about this tour and our tour director, Jim.
This is the second time I've taken the tour, once being four years ago and it was with Michele. I so thouroughly enjoyed it that I couldn't wait to do it again and I wasn't disappointed. Jim gave us so much information not only on the wonderful places to go and sample, but on the culture and history of the North End. I learned even more than I did the first time (or else I paid more attention..lol)
The pastries at Maria's are to 'die for' and I wish I had brought more home, as they were gone in one day and my family is wanting more. You must try the Amaretto cookies.
One suggestion would be to take the tour as soon as you can on arriving in Boston, as there are so many wonderful places that they suggest for dining, you will need the rest of your stay to try them all. As we heard on the tour, you don't necessarily want to go to the restaurants that have the biggest line outside. That doesn't mean they're better, in fact, if you go to the places off the main street, you will find charming and delicious alternatives.
I was pleasantly surprised that this time we were given handouts showing the places we were visiting and maps on how to get back to them when the tour was over. The first time I took the tour, I couldn't remember how to get back to my favorite places without walking all over the North End until I recognized the outside. This time I could look at the map and go straight back to where I wanted to pick up some of the delicious items we sampled.
All I can say is that you won't be disappointed. The food, the people, the tour director all made for a most enjoyable visit. |

I arranged this tour as part of a birthday weekend for my mother who is of Italian heritage. She absolutely LOVED it! We had so much fun visiting the different shops & learned a lot! Jim was an excellent guide & we continually marveled at his knowledge/presentation skills. He recommended an AMAZING restaurant for lunch....a true North End gem that we will definitely come back to! |

Our tour guide was very informative, as well as entertaining. I learned a lot that I didn't know about the history of the North End, as well as many fun facts! Some of the stores can be a little crowded, but that is to be expected. The only part of the tour that was difficult for me was the standing - at one point we stood almost 30 minutes in the same spot. This might be difficult for some, particularly older guests. Overall I would recommend this tour, I got tickets for my mother and I as her mother's day gift and we had a wonderful time. There were small tastings at most of the stores/shops we stopped at - you won't get "full", but it was overall a nice preview of some of the interesting products the shops have to offer. |

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the North End with our tour guide, Beth. We visited some lovely stores and met some great people! Beth was extremely knowledgeble about Italian food and culture. She gave us many great tips on what to look for in choosing Italian food and wine, as well as food/wine tips in general. We were also given a mini-history lesson of the North End, as well. We had a wonderful time! My only complaint is that it was too short with the tour ending before I knew it. After the tour, my husband and I spent another hour "rounding up" all the goodies we wanted to take home with us, recommended by Beth during the tour. I will definitely recommend this activity to family and friends in the future! |

Always leave them wanting more. We had six wonderful stops, each one a different flavor. Our guide was warm and enchanting, full of information and suggestions. He kept our entire group mesmerized. The time flew by. My biggest regret was that the stores were closed when we were done and we just didn't have enough time on this trip to go back and shop. But we want more. We now have to come back to Boston to eat and shop and have more time to enjoy all our new knowledge. Thank goodness for handouts. What a glorious afternoon we had. Thank you. |
