A good friend and I decided to take our husbands on this tour since we all like to cook and enjoy good food. My friend had done the same tour several years ago with her dad. It was great fun - good history, lots of interesting tidbits about the neighborhood, wonderful information about the shops and food and a few good taste treats to boot. I would recommend the tour to friends for sure.

Lots of history mixed with culture and entertainment. It was like visiting a friend who was showing you the highlights of their neighborhood, The only improvement I would make to the tour is a coffee break time at one the venues for a beverage and snack and a chance to sit down. Three hours on your feet does get difficult even with the best of shoes.

Michelle is an engaging person who completely enthralls you through the North End. She imparts tons of knowledge in a fun way. The stores you visit will wow you with food samples and authentic atmosphere. It's like Disney for adults. I've taken the tour twice now and adored it each time!

I found Michele's tour both informative and entertaining. His knowledge and insight from a culinary perspective mixed with the culture and customs of the area was well worth the price of the tour. I only wish Michele had a little more time to spend with us. Thank you for a delightful afternoon.

We were not sure what to expect when we signed on for the North End Market Tour. What a joy it turned out to be. Our guide was a former chef and restaurant owner. Not only did he show us local markets, but he spoke knowingly about several cooking tools, such as balsamic vinegar, olive oil, spices, nuts, etc. He took us to little markets, bakeries, liqueur and wine markets that are not known to the common tourist. He explained the layout of the small community and gave us suggestions for restaurants. We would highly recommend this tour, even to the local Bostonians.

Our guide Jim was wonderful. His enthusiasm and general demeaner added to the atmosphere and increased the groups (15 in the tour) desire to learn more. My ancestors are Italian. Jim was able to utilize examples that finally made me understand why they do/did things in a particular way. Jim mentioned that he was trying to put together a chinatown tour, if I am in the area I definiately will inquire. Thanks for offering this tour, it was great.

3 of us are serious about cooking, but I am not even interested in cooking, just eating. All of us enjoyed the tour! We picked this tour because our 33 year old daughter and her husband had received a tour earlier as a wedding present and raved about it. 2 of us from Seattle and 2 of us long time Cambridge residents loved this tour! The guide knew so much about the history of the north end, the various immigrant groups who had occupied the area, left and returned, plus the history of both Italian and Italian-American food and explained the distinction. The samples were great, the store owner's gracious. It was not too much walking, even though one of us is recovering from a broken foot and 2 of us have bad backs.

Our tour guide was terrific and he made the experience perfect. He was polite, professional, friendly and informative. I appreciated the respect he showed the merchants and local residents, trying not to interrupt their daily routine. The selection of sites we visited included a wide variety and I took copioius notes, hoping to return to the shops when I have more time. I purchased a few samples to enjoy at home (cheese, prosciutto, balsamic vinegar). We ended our day with a great lunch in a local restaurant. I highly recommend this tour and plan to go again when hosting out of town guests.

I consider myself to be extremely knowledgeable about Italian food, but I learned some useful things. It was great to finally find out where to get the best ingredients, since this town seems to be big on omerta about that sort of thing.
