Very Informative!

I worked in the Chinatown area for years and have some knowledge of the Chinese culture. Despite this, I found our tour with Jackie to be very informative and learned a lot about the Chinese culture, Chinese food, and the history of Boston's Chinatown. My young daughters had a great time and we plan to explore, on our own, the places we were shown on the tour. The Chinese herbal pharmacy was especially interesting and a great addition to the tour. Boston is a great walkable city and this tour reminded me of how interesting Boston can be.

Fascinating and Fun

A group of four of us attended the Chinatown Food Tour last week, and we had a wonderful time -- our guide, Jim, was extremely informative, engaging, and enthusiastic about the information he provided. First, Jim provided an overview of the history of Chinatown which none of us knew anything about - despite the fact that we've all lived in the Boston area for years...then our adventure began, including but not limited to live poultry, dried cicadas (not to eat!), delicious Chinese pastries, a vegetable market tour and lots, lots more. Finishing off with dim sum lunch was fabulous, as none of us were sure of the proper etiquette and types of food served. Now, I feel confident enough in my knowledge of Chinatown to take my family in for dim sum or even just a cup of bubble tea. Highly recommended, not too much walking but plenty to keep you interested for the entire time.

I've lived in Boston for awhile and this is my first official tour of the North End with a family visiting from out of state, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A great history course and food course!

A great tour and learning experience. Tho my daughter lived on Hanover St for several years we learned an awful lot. A good group of fellow tourists and superb leader. Well chosen stores and other spots. thanks ever so much for such an enjoyable time.

My nephew and I really loved seeing and eating our way through Chinatown. We got a historical, cultural and culinary experience. The dim sum was the best. I highly recommend this tour!

First time on such a tour... didn't know what to expect. Turned out to be one positive surprise after another. Included historical, cultural, serious, humorous, taste, smell, .... simply amazing... entertaining as well as educational. We have already spread the word to some of our friends who we know will enjoy the event in the future.

Our guide shared such interesting information. He was so knowledgeable - a true expert! Great tips, wonderful food bites! If you don't go back and have a sandwich at Monica's you'll always be sorry!

A Decent Tour For Specific People

The North End Tour is a nice tour, but not for the simple foodie. It is very informational/historically intensive, with a focus on ingredients rather than food. It will give you a very detailed, nuanced look at Italian Cuisine and recommend you some nice areas to shop, and that is where it excels. There is hardly any time to purchase goods, and you do not eat much, so if these are your interests, consider something else. Overall, its a nice tour, and the guides are very nice.

Our guide lived in France on the border of Italy and so was very knowledgeable about the food and history of Italy. She was also very knowledgeable about Boston and the history there. We learned a lot and sampled great food. I will definitely go on another tour next time I return to Boston.

We were fortunate to tour the North End on a beautiful spring day with warm temperatures and bright sunshine. Our tour leader, Beth, was extremely knowledgeable and provided a wealth of information on the history of the North End. The shops were well-chosen for their authenticity. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning more about the North End whether for shopping, dining, or history. This tour covers it all!

Discovering the best kept secrets of the North End
Sat, Mar 8  2:00 PM MartiCapuco Female 50-59 Local Group of Friends
Our group had Beth as a leader. She was a great speaker, personable and had a good sense of humor about things which is a must! She took us down alleyways to hidden bakeries and pasta shops, to pastry shops without lines for tastings and finally to one of the best wine purveyors in New England. I've spent a lot of time in the North End and she hit the best places and then some! I highly recommend this tour.
