My daughter and I, foodies both, decided to take the North End Food Tour, and we both loved it. Our host was Jim, a former chef, and he had marvelous insider info, so we learned a great deal about the food cultures, shops and restaurants of the North End, plus lots of great food info, like how to tell a boy eggplant from a girl eggplant, and why one is a smarter purchase than the other! We only took the tour three days ago, but due to our after-tour shopping, I've already served several meals from ingedients or recipes he recommended. The success of this tour is dependent upon an enthusiaistic and knowledgeable tour guide, and Jim was both! When my daughter comes to visit again, we will take the Chinatown tour for sure.

We had a great time and Beth was terrific. I would definitely recommend it to friends who like to cook and who haven't walked around the North End in a while. It was fun.

Our guide knew Chinese history, Chinatown history, the language, and food preparation both historical and current. I am now comfortable enough to take my familly to Chinatown on my own and try some of the bakeries, restaurants and shops including the grocery store. We were able to sample at most stops, given a map of the area and a list of favorite restaruants. Our guide was very organized, personable and gracious. Great fun way to explore a part of Boston with up to 10 friends. And included lunch!

I had a wonderful and tasty time! Our guide was excellent. He was very knowledgeable with just the right mix of cultural and culinary information. The attempt to raise our comfort level in coming back to Chinatown on our own was definitely achieved. Now my group is waiting for the cooking class in the same cuisine to follow!! I would highly recommend this activity for those wanting to know more about their city as well as those wanting to 'taste' something outside of their comfort zone!

The tour was nicely paced with a good mix of local interest/history interspersed with the lessons of Italian cuisine. Jim was a fabulous guide. Even though he must have done this tour a million times, there was nothing rote his presentation. He was just warm, friendly, and knowledgable. The food samples were wonderful. What better compliment than to say that I have been applying the information learned in the tour since I came home. Thanksgiving is a test to see if we all avoid (don't know how to spell it) agita, now that we know all the ways to avoid it and/or the foods to alleviate it. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon. I'll look forward to the Chinatown tour on the next visit.

We had a wonderful time exploring the North End. Our guide provided us with fun food and historical facts. We would highly recommend this to locals and visitors alike!

I was a little concerned when the tour started but 3 hours flew by with lots of laughs, wonderful information and delicious tastes of Italy. Well worth the money. Our guide (so sorry I can't remember her name) was a joy full of knowledge and enthusiasm. Her love of the North End was unmistakable.

I bought tickets for the North End Market Tour for my girlfriend for our three year anniversary. My girlfriend is of Italian descent and loves to cook. She was amazed at all the information that was given to us on the tour and amazed at how much she didn't know about the various Italian food styles. It was the perfect gift for her and she is going to recommend it to the rest of her family.

I felt like I was in the presence of my grandparents! This was the most wonderful experience--even more than I'd hoped for. The combination of history and Italian culture was superb. I recommend this for anyone and everyone who wants to connect with their roots. I wish I lived in the North End!!

We had heard this tour of the Northend was great from numerous friends- but no one could really describe how fun, historically interesting, and educational this was . Jim was our guide and wove wonderful stories and anecdotes into the walk. LOVED poking around the small stores and trying different foods. Everyone from my group has been enthusiastically recommending this to our co-workers and friends. I've already offered this to friends when they come out to visit! This is THE BEST!

This tour was very fun and very educational. I'll never look at a bottle of olive oil the same. My father is first-generation Italian-American, and it took him back to his childhood; he absolutely loved it. Our tour guide, Jim, was funny and very knowledgeable about Italian cooking and its history. I would recommend this tour very highly!

After many years of visiting Boston, we enjoyed having the opportunity to be in the North End for an extended time and learn about the Italian food traditions. The tour guide was very knowledgeable not only about the food but also about different aspects of the Italian language and culture. All of the shops were interesting. It was great to find out about recommended restaurants and then, to have a chance to eat dinner in one of them that night after the tour. We hope to go back and revisit some of the stores and of course, try another restaurant!
