Excellent professional tour

I am a South Boston native so I thought I knew the North End! Our tour guide Dick taught me otherwise. Dick is a professional who gave us the historical perspective as well as the insider view of the local bakeries, butchers, grocerias and wine stores. My sisters and I loved it. The group is manageable so we could all fit in the small stores. It was obvious that the store owners loved having the tour and our guide. Everyone made you feel at home. We now have yet another reason to go back to the North End... we discovered a bakery, meat store, fish store, vegetable store , wine store and of course 30 more resturants we need to experiance and this time we will bring the husbands. There is a lot of standing yet many rest stops along the way. There are samples of a variey of foods and drinks as well. I would not reccomend this for children it really should be appreciated by adults. Also folks with back problems might mind the standing. Michele has put together an awesome experience, I would love to take her Italy tour. Thanks

My wife and I attended the No. End tour in the summer of 2010. We were pleasantly surprised with the tour and the knowledge of our guide, Jim, who was a former chef and well versed on the history of the area. The tour stopped at 6 stores in the area and we learned something about the products sold in each store,eg, olive oil, cheese, spices, etc. We have been on a number of tours on our travels in Europe and we enjoyed this one as well as any.If you enjoy Italian food or you like to cook the same you will enjoy the tour.

If you like Italian food and culture, you'll love this walking tour of the North End. Our guide, Beth, was so knowledgable and infomative, it was fantastic! We learnt about the history, geography, cooking, ingredients, cuisine, wine and culture of both Italy and this lovely and fun district of Boston. Lots of delicious samples along the way, and a warm welcome in every store she took us to! I think this is one of the best tours I have ever taken - I learnt so much and had a great time.

The tour was a tasty way to get acquainted with the food items that are cooked and served in Chinatown. While we nibbled curbside on roast pork, moon cakes and lychee bubble tea, Jim our tour guide was busy filling us in with historical and geographical tidbits about the settlers who moved to this area and some of their customs. A great day trip for suburbanites who are looking for a good reason to go into the city.

Jim was extremely knowledgeable. His manner was warm and friendly, but professional. He shared information about wonderful products, history and customs. He also recommended several restaurants that met my needs exactly.

It was a great tour, we enjoyed it tremendously. We toured with a couple of adult children. Michelle was genuinely enthusiastic and incredibly informative. She provided wonderful detail, including much history of the neigborhood and rich culture. The culinary information was as practical as it was facinating. We would recommend this to any visitor to Boston.

Enjoyed the tour very much-even though we have visited the north end hundreds of times the tour was extremely informative. I never knew how little I actually new about the north end and our guide was fantastic! I can't wait to take the tour of Chinatown-let us know when it's available!

This tour was a lot of fun. The tour guide, Michelle, was perfect as a tour operator. She was friendly, knowledgable and had an interesting presentation. All of the shops were well chosen and everyone in them was as friendly as could be. The samples were good and a good mix. I actually learned a lot and my daughter, who is just starting to be a good cook, thought it very helpful as well. I would recommend this tour to anyone, whether you were into cooking or not.

I just loved this tour. The bakery, salumeria, cheese shop, wine shop and ingredient store provided a comprehensive education in italian american cuisine. The tour guide was a retired chef who gave us an education at each stop we made. This tour was a sheer delight and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Boston area

The tour was great. Interesting, never a dull moment! The 3 hours fly by. We learned about many things including Italian history, Boston history, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, fennel and figs. I highly recommend this tour even if you think you know all about the North End (I lived there for 10 years and still learned new things).

This tour was a lot of fun! The tour guide, Paul, seemed to know the history of the neighborhood, and was knowledgeable about the Italian foods, and ingredients to be found in the North End. It was a cold day, but the shops were close together, so it wasn't too uncomfortable walking around. All the shop owners were friendly and helpful, and gladly answered any questions. My only disappointment was that the tour only lasted 2.25 hours instead of the 3 advertised. I would have liked to spend the remaining time visiting even more shops.
