Don't take a Michele Topor Tour!!!

After committing my credit card - I was given the information there would not be bathroom stops on this tour. I think this is barberic seeing as going to the bathroom is a natural bodily function and during 3 hours, one would probably have to use a bathroom. I also felt it was unethical of Michele Topor to only give this information after I had committed to the tour. I have taken tours in NYC and bathroom facilities were offered on both tours. While in Boston this past weekend I spread the word about M. Topor and her ridiculous non-bathroom policy - hope the word spreads far and wide.

Attended the tour with my husband (who was celebrating his "50th") and one daughter who is a senior at Boston College (who was also celebrating a birthday), another daughter a sophmore at Johnson & Wales in RI, and my son who is a junior in HS. Since we all like to cook (especially Italian food), we could relate to the information and also learn a great deal. We all had a wonderful time and Jim (the tour guide) was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

We thoroughly enjoyed our market tour of the North End. We have visited the area several times but never ventured from the main streets. Our guide was very informative. The 3 hours flew by. My group would highly recommend this tour to everyone.

This is my 2nd time on the north end tour. It was better than ever. I am not a tourist.I live in a different section of the city. I love getting the "insiders" scoop on everything from cannolis to the best place for an expresso !' I took 2 of my sisters for a birthday gift. We all enjoyed it immensely. I would highly recommend it to friends and visitors . Beth was great !!

I did this tour by myself in Jan 2007, it had been something I had wanted to do for years but it was always sold out when I had been in Boston. (which I guess only supports it's high price per person). It was really fun and informative, my tour guide, Jim, a local chef, was terrific and full of great cooking tips. The candy store was surprisingly my favorite stop, it was unexpectedly full of great cooking ingredients I would not have pegged in a candy store.

Italian American Food Adventure in Boston

Beth was our guide and she was wonderful! I've been to the north end before many times but this tour took us through the history of cultures who have lived there before as well as all the great family owned and run businesses that adhere to old and new Italian American traditions. She also provided us with handouts that were extremely helpful in keeping up with what she was saying without having to take notes the whole time! With times moving toward the 'big box' shopping ideals, my friends and I try to give our business to the ones we know care about what they do as well as their customers; you could tell right away that every business we visited with Beth was one of those places. The food and drinks we tasted were amazing - we even went back to purchase some of the things we tried after the tour. If you want to get to know the area and you only have a little time to do it this is a great tour. If you have visited but didn't really know where to go to shop for authentic foods this is a great tour for you. We have been talking about the tour for days after we did it. I will definetly recommend this tour to others!

This tour was part of my husband's Christmas gift this year. We arrived early, found safe, monitored parking within two blocks of the starting point, and browsed until 10:00. Our guide, Beth, was prompt, and made sure that eveyone understood each topic before moving on to the next. She offered plenty of time for questions and comments, and had a list of information about the area that must make her fear to tip her head side-ways! She was kind and made sure that each guest on the tour had personal care throughout the day. My husband and I were disappointed to see the day end. We made note of the places we wanted to return to the next day, and places we want to bring friends next spring. You may see us again then! A truly enjoyable day - please extend our thanks to Beth and all of the shop keepers that so graciously allowed us to poke and handle, taste and comment, and enter their lives so personally. We met some interesting couples on the tour, and made plans to meet up with one set this summer at our annual fourth of July bash - Beth, you and your son are more than welcome to join us too!
