| This tour was everything we were hoping it would be! We got a great overview of the North End, some great places we went back to during our stay in Boston, and an inside look at the various regions in Italy, and their unique characteristics in relation to food and ingredients used in cooking. We sampled some wonderful pastries, the best balsamic vinegar we've ever had, a wonderfully refreshing Italian Ice, and the list goes on...We enjoyed this tour so much, we would probably go on it again when we return in 3 years! | ||||||

| The Boston North End tour was interesting, educational and entertaining. We saw and learned things that we would never have been able to discover on our own. It's a must-do for all locals - especially anyone just moving to the area. | ||||||

| This was a great way to revisit the Boston North End and the indigenous cuisine. I was accompanied by my two adult daughters while on a baseball related trip. (This was their first visit to Boston, and this tour was a great way to spend their first day) The tour guide, an ex-chef in the area, was extremely well informed about the culture and history of the region and the food resources available. His personal acquaintance with the management/owners and their staff gave a real authenticity to his presentation at the many stops on the tour. The samples of products was very well presented and the quality was very good. We were required to re-visit Maria's bakery to gather a small colllection of goodies before we left town. . We were only able to visit two of the restaurants on the recommended list but they were both very good, and as described. We will be better prepared to enjoy the speciality cuisine of the various regions of Italy on our next visit. We also learned how to sex an eggplant! | ||||||

| My husband and I have taken several culinary tours in major cities in the US. This North End Tour was the best by far. Our guide was a chef and historian and was very entertaining and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend! | ||||||

| We really enjoyed the tour. It was a great way to see The North End,get a feel for the people that have lived and live there now. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and made the tour fun and interesting. We were a varied group and all age groups seemed to enjoy the content and flow of the stops along our morning tour. Tips on where to eat lunch were welcome too. All in all a great day in Boston! | ||||||

A great iIntroduction to the North End! North End Market Tour |

| For anyone wanting an introduction to the cultural histrory of the N orth End, with a slant toward the culinary traditions, this is a very enjoyable tour. Jim , our guide , showed genuine appreciation for the italian and Italian American traditions that have made the North End a cultural treasure of America's immigrant history. I enjoyed learning about authentic traditions and adaptations that have become iconid Italian American standards. While the tour indulges in culinary pleasures, the history and culture of Italian Americans was woven into each stop along the tour. Add to that cooking tips and the "insiders guide" to the North End, and you've got a winning tour. Thanki you Jim for sharing your expertise and personal experiences and preferences-- and Thank you for not cancelling the tour even though our "group" was smalll enough to become a private tour. It was a wonder ful morning. | ||||||

| My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our North End Market Tour. Our guide, Jim, was knowledgeable, engaging, and an excellent speaker. The selection of markets was perfect, and we returned to many of them afterward to purchase items that intrigued us. The three hours passed in the blink of an eye, leaving us feeling like we had taken a mini-vacation in Italy. I will definitely recommend this tour to friends and plan on including it when we entertain visitors to the Boston area. | ||||||

A Wonderful and Enlightening Experience! North End Market Tour |

| My past experiences with group tours has been such lousy experiences and a waste of time, I nearly changed my mind several times before showing up for this tour. I have such little patience for walking from one historical and disconnected tourist site to another while tacitly avoiding the present and local life of the area. Michele Topor's tour was such a breath of fresh air! It wasn't about past cultures long gone, but the living culture and just enough history to provide a context to the beliefs and habits. The hands-on and personable experience made it an authentic and relevant learning opportunity. The knowledge shared was something to bring home and act upon. I've found myself reflecting upon my cooking and eating habits days after the tour. When asked about my trip to Boston, the Topor tour comes out as the most memorable event. My only fear is that it might become too popular and negatively impact the intimacy of the experience. If only it could be Boston's best kept secret! | ||||||

| I loved the tour! I had visited most of the shops before on my own, but did not know what most of the products were and what I should try. Now I know and can't wait to go back to the North End as often as possible. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable about the North End food shops, restaurants, etc. I would recommend the tour to anyone who is interested in all things Italian or food in general. | ||||||

| I thought that this was horribly overpriced. It also felt as though the group was an inconvenience to some of the shop keepers. Did learn a couple of good shopping tips. | ||||||
