This tasting tour was both enjoyable and informative. The three hours passed very quickly and the tour guide was well prepared.

Fascinating tour from the history of the North End, the transformations from Italian to Italian American. I felt like I should've been taking notes because I learned so much! Thanks for a fun tour. It was perfect for our work team building event.

We really enjoyed this tour, however, not being serious cooks, we thought the tour guide could have been a little bit more entertaining instead of merely giving copious information. Overall though, we had fun seeing a portion of Boston we had never been to before.

I have been recommmending the tour to everyone I have come in contact with over the past week-- coworkers, friends, family, etc. It was fantastic (even in the horrible rain/snow/cold)!

My boyfriend and I decided to take my parents on a vacation to Boston as a Christmas gift. What could have been a disaster - as our reservations were for March 2006 typically a cold bitter month - turned out to be spectacular. The weather was in our favor - just right for a walking tour. My father is 100% Italian and this was the tour to take him on! Both my parents loved the fact that the tour, though long, did not involve a 5 mile hike as they had feared. Rather, the tour was a lovely meandering through "Little Italy" - with samplings along the way! We also learned about the foods of the immigrants - the differences found between northern and southern Italy - and how to make the most out of our meals. The history of the area provided a great mix. Michele guided the tour and was wonderful! We even saw her again a few days later as we revisited the North End and were dining at a restaurant she had recommended. No visit to Boston would be complete without a tour of the North End and you just have to get Michele to take you there! When you can impress my father - you have surpassed the ultimate test! Gracias!

Wonderful Tour

Michelle Topor's tour is better than I had imagined. She gave us the history of the North End and how the Italian Americans settled here, to a history of how the food of the North End evolved. The tour included great information on where to shop, and eat. Michelle was terrific with her ideas for recipes, knowlege of the North End and her energy was amazing...I would do it again.

The guide did a great job explaining a variety of things to a group that would sometimes be a bit noisy. It was a great time, great tastings, I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Boston. My date was a Boston native, and he too found it to be a great part of our weekend.

It was an excellant gift to give people who live out of town - but would like to experience all that the North End has to offer. (and it was also a great experience for someone that lives locally but did not know the ins and outs of the North End)

Fabulous!

Our family enjoyed this tour very much! I had been on the tour a few years ago with my sister and thought it was great, so we took my mother-in-law and sister in-law this time around. The tour is very informative from the cooking perspective as well as the North End/Italian cultural perspective. Our tour guide was enthusiastic and friendly, and did a fantastic tour. We live in the North End and have been shopping at many of the tour stops since I first took the tour. We highly recommend this tour for anyone who loves cooking and baking!

Good tour, especially for history buffs

I enjoyed this tour. I thought it was especially useful to local residents because of the shop/restaurant info and advice. However, it would be interesting to anyone who enjoys history and learning about the local flavor of their vacation destination. The samples are just that and really added to the trip but should not be considered snacks- bring something if you think you might get hungry (especially because you are mostly talking about food!)

Fun For Foodies

We loved this tour!! We are 3 Food lovers from Ohio and this tour met all our expectations. We learned a lot and would definitely recommend this to others. One suggestion would be to have a two hour tour. Several of the areas could be shortened. Three hours was taxing for some in our group. Thanks and this will be a definite thumbs up!

It was one of the highlights of my mother and my visit to Boston. I would abolutely recommend it to any Irish person heading to the Boston area. It was lovely to see an authentic "neighbourhood". Our guide was superb, very informative and friendly. We loved the food and all the recommendations for restaurants etc.! Well done!

Interesting, but still overrated

The tour certainly provides some interesting insighs, but I think it is overrated * Tour was not given by Michelle Topor, but by some more junior guide * Offered nothing really new to me * Tastings were rather limited * Group was very large (12+) -- at a few stores the group had to wait outside, because the store was too small for the large group
