| Michelle is an engaging person who completely enthralls you through the North End. She imparts tons of knowledge in a fun way. The stores you visit will wow you with food samples and authentic atmosphere. It's like Disney for adults. I've taken the tour twice now and adored it each time! | ||||||

| I found Michele's tour both informative and entertaining. His knowledge and insight from a culinary perspective mixed with the culture and customs of the area was well worth the price of the tour. I only wish Michele had a little more time to spend with us. Thank you for a delightful afternoon. | ||||||

| We were not sure what to expect when we signed on for the North End Market Tour. What a joy it turned out to be. Our guide was a former chef and restaurant owner. Not only did he show us local markets, but he spoke knowingly about several cooking tools, such as balsamic vinegar, olive oil, spices, nuts, etc. He took us to little markets, bakeries, liqueur and wine markets that are not known to the common tourist. He explained the layout of the small community and gave us suggestions for restaurants. We would highly recommend this tour, even to the local Bostonians. | ||||||

| Our guide Jim was wonderful. His enthusiasm and general demeaner added to the atmosphere and increased the groups (15 in the tour) desire to learn more. My ancestors are Italian. Jim was able to utilize examples that finally made me understand why they do/did things in a particular way. Jim mentioned that he was trying to put together a chinatown tour, if I am in the area I definiately will inquire. Thanks for offering this tour, it was great. | ||||||

| 3 of us are serious about cooking, but I am not even interested in cooking, just eating. All of us enjoyed the tour! We picked this tour because our 33 year old daughter and her husband had received a tour earlier as a wedding present and raved about it. 2 of us from Seattle and 2 of us long time Cambridge residents loved this tour! The guide knew so much about the history of the north end, the various immigrant groups who had occupied the area, left and returned, plus the history of both Italian and Italian-American food and explained the distinction. The samples were great, the store owner's gracious. It was not too much walking, even though one of us is recovering from a broken foot and 2 of us have bad backs. | ||||||

| Our tour guide was terrific and he made the experience perfect. He was polite, professional, friendly and informative. I appreciated the respect he showed the merchants and local residents, trying not to interrupt their daily routine. The selection of sites we visited included a wide variety and I took copioius notes, hoping to return to the shops when I have more time. I purchased a few samples to enjoy at home (cheese, prosciutto, balsamic vinegar). We ended our day with a great lunch in a local restaurant. I highly recommend this tour and plan to go again when hosting out of town guests. | ||||||

| I consider myself to be extremely knowledgeable about Italian food, but I learned some useful things. It was great to finally find out where to get the best ingredients, since this town seems to be big on omerta about that sort of thing. | ||||||

| It was a chilly day, but I did not even realize it once we began the tour through the North End. Jim was very knowledgeable but was so interesting the time just flew by! His tips, history, recipes and destination information was stellar! I would highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys "off the beaten path" activities. The Noth End exudes the robust smells of garlic, cheese, bakery and more. What a wonderful time. Even being alone, I felt quite comfortable with the group. You'll love it! | ||||||

| As an Italian-American I really enjoyed hearing about the history of the Italians in the North End and the opportunity to visit and experience the local eateries/shops. It was a very unique tour and our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. I would strongly recommend it to Bostonians and tourists alike! | ||||||

GREAT BUT ONE COMPLAINT North End Market Tour |

| The tour was exactly as advertised, and our tour guide was excellent and knowledgeable. Even though it stated in advance information that there would be no rest stops it should be designed that after the first 90 minutes a shop should be found to sit for about 10 minutes. It is tough to go for 3 hours with almost no rest. I would highly recommend this tour as the amount of information that you get is invaluable, both for visitors to Boston and also for residents. All places visited were high quality and my wife and I enjoyed retracing the route after the tour and making some purchases. A number of restaurants were mentioned and we had a great lunch in one of them. A five star experience, but exhausting for those of us who are no longer 20, 30, or 40. | ||||||

| Having lived in Boston for a number of years, I had never explored the North End. We had a most excellent tour from Jim, who is a professional chef. He was a repository of most interesting information about Italian products, and knew the North end well. My daughter and I were so inspired that she is giving an Italian dinner party. I am looking forward to returning and buying groceries at the shops we visited. I highly recommend this tour. | ||||||

| Our tour guide, Jim added such depth of information about the North End. The tips on cooking and the ingredients made us want to come back and have a "Little Italy" themed dinner party and now we know just where to order the authentic staples that we will need. The tour went by so quickly and there was so much to absorb that we plan to come back and do the tour again. | ||||||

| I can't say enough wonderful things about this tour and our tour director, Jim. This is the second time I've taken the tour, once being four years ago and it was with Michele. I so thouroughly enjoyed it that I couldn't wait to do it again and I wasn't disappointed. Jim gave us so much information not only on the wonderful places to go and sample, but on the culture and history of the North End. I learned even more than I did the first time (or else I paid more attention..lol) The pastries at Maria's are to 'die for' and I wish I had brought more home, as they were gone in one day and my family is wanting more. You must try the Amaretto cookies. One suggestion would be to take the tour as soon as you can on arriving in Boston, as there are so many wonderful places that they suggest for dining, you will need the rest of your stay to try them all. As we heard on the tour, you don't necessarily want to go to the restaurants that have the biggest line outside. That doesn't mean they're better, in fact, if you go to the places off the main street, you will find charming and delicious alternatives. I was pleasantly surprised that this time we were given handouts showing the places we were visiting and maps on how to get back to them when the tour was over. The first time I took the tour, I couldn't remember how to get back to my favorite places without walking all over the North End until I recognized the outside. This time I could look at the map and go straight back to where I wanted to pick up some of the delicious items we sampled. All I can say is that you won't be disappointed. The food, the people, the tour director all made for a most enjoyable visit. | ||||||
