Jim was a wonderful guide and we enjoyed the tour very much. A great way to learn about this part of Boston, as well as Chinese cuisine and culture. The Dim Sum lunch was a perfect ending to a very enjoyable morning. |

My family loves to cook and eat good food, especially Italian. I am not a big fan at all of the standard Boston tourist activities and I find many of them corny and a waste of money. This is soooo far from that! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and taught us so many fun facts about the North End, restaurants, bakeries, stores and all the traditional italian food we were blown away by how much fun it was to learn it all (and taste it). Whether you are from Boston or not, I highly recommend this as a fun thing to do with family and friends. Not to mention you should plan it so you go out to dinner or lunch afterwards to make the most out of the experience. |

Loved the information and we definitely learned a lot about ingredients, Italian history, and the local culture. Weather definitely plays a huge part in the enjoyment of the tour, so I would book during Fall, Summer, or Spring months. I did not like that there was not time placed in the tour for bathroom breaks. This seems very rude and unprofessional. A quick stop for 10 minutes during the tour for participants to use the facilities would be utilized and I am sure much appreciated by the guests. |

Even though I have been on other Chinatown tours in the past, this was probably the most interesting. Jim Becker is a most knowledgeable and personable guide. I particularly enjoyed the tour through the supermarket and the explanation of various ingredients, plus finding out about Chinese New Year customs and beliefs. Having an opportunity to try some new foods was interesting as well. |

Our guide was great, easy to query and very knowledgeable about the district. Knew the neighborhood and was well received by the shops that we went into. Our whole group just loved it and went to eat then shopped afterward! |

Michele Topor provides a great three hour (sometimes longer) tour of local markets in Boston's North End. The emphasis is on what one buys whether it be cheese, baked goods, meats or wines. Not being Italian I learned a lot about the traditions in the Italian eating/drinking culture. At the same time Michele integrates the history of the North End in a fun and interesting way. Whether you are a gourmet chef or like me, a person who just likes "veal parm", you'll find plenty to enjoy on this stroll through Boston's North End. |

The event is an essential part of any visit to Boston because it is not only a tour of Little Italy, it is a study in food ingredients, healthy eating, and food management. The insights offered for quality pastries, pastas, oils, vinegars, cheeses, breads, wines and more is exhaustive-- and all in a three hour period. My notes from this wonderful ramble are things I will put in place for our household, immediately. The nuts went into the freeze as soon as we got in the house upon our return home. An examination of our oils and vinegars was next and we took the tomatoes out of the refrigerator and placed them on the window sill, upside down. Thanks so much! |
