We thoroughly enjoyed all the knowledge shared to us by the tour guide. His wealth of information about food really made us feel like we were getting the inside track. I've been showcasing my new found knowledge of balsamic and olive oil ever since my return to Maine!

It was neat actually meeting the local family owners of the stores we visited. They really made you feel at home.

We've been on food tours in New York, San Francisco, Portland, etc. and this was a highlight to be sure. Our guide was an expert in the North End, Italian culture, and history of the area. Highly recommend this tour!

Great information, even for a local

Beth our guide was enthusiastic, informative and made the tour a delight. Our group of ten had no problem traveling about together. Even though it was cold and a little rainy, we all managed to plow through the tour with a good attitude. I would recommend wearing comfortable shoes as there is really no opportunity to rest during the three hours. A good tour for locals since the little details of the neighborhood and shops makes you want to come back for more.

This was an amazing walk through history. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Chinatown. Our guide was a wealth of knowledge. The tour was both educational and fun. The materials he passed out to the group will be very helpful when I go back to Chinatown for a visit.

Overall, A Positive Tour

I thought that the tour was very informative and would be helpful for a target Western audience. As a Chinese-American I already had a lot of the knowledge that was being articulated by the guide. However, it was very interesting and insightful to hear about Chinatown from a Western perspective. The guide was very engaging and had a great knowledge of the different types of food and cooking techniques. The historic part at the beginning of the tour was very helpful as well. Overall, I thought that the tour was a positive experience and was impressed that there wasn't a "slanting" of the presentation of Chinatown.

Highlight of our Boston visit!

My husband and I brought our two teenage sons (15 & 18) from Los Angeles to Boston to look at the college my oldest son will be attending this fall. We wanted to get a feeling of the town so we decided that a Food Tour would be fun. We had a terrific time and the three hours flew by. Michelle Topor was extremely charming and interesting. We learned about the history of the North End, the modern culture of the neighborhood and all about good food. Our teenage boys hung on to every word she said - they were never bored! Now we're all experts on balsamic vinegar, eggplant, pasta, North Italian vs. Southern Italian food, etc.! Allow yourself some time for shopping after the tour - you'll want to go back to some of the stores and buy some wonderful food things to take home. But don't make the mistake that I did - if you buy the outrageously delicious balsamic vinegar that you get to sample on the tour, you can't take it back home on the plane if it's in your purse! They confiscate liquids over 3 ounces. You have to check it in! Duh! We also went on a Duck Tour, which was great, but Michelle Topor's food tour is what we all will really remember - I highly recommend it!

We started out on a rainy Friday but the weather did not hinder our enjoyment of the tour. Our tour guide was informative and very detailed. We had several great samples and learned a lot about food from Italy.

We enjoyed Jim very much, and our first introduction to the Italian district. We loved meeting the owners, sampling delicious food and most importantly getting educated about olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We will be returning to the Italian district everytime we are in Boston.

The highlight of my trip to Boston!

This was the high light of my trip to Boston and I've already recommended it to fellow foodies. Jim Becker is an extremely knowledgeable guide not only about the food but also the history of the area. The merchants were all very friendly and gave me a warm welcome when I returned later to make a few purchases. This was a very nice addition to my first visit to the city.

We had a great time on the tour despite the weather, and the fact that we had someone in a wheelchair. The guide was very accommodating and attentive with us. We loved the tastes and the only recommendation I have is to add a bit more of that. The background and history are great and I liked that the guide had a relationship with the vendors... We will reccomend it to friends, but tell them to wait for summer! It was freezing!

I would highly recommend the Boston North End Market Tour. I went on the tour last week and Jim was my tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable of the North End history and of authentic Italian cuisine. I loved all of the background information and learning about new ingredients that I haven't tried before. All of the food samples were delicious and reinforced all of the information from the tour. The next time I am in Boston, I plan on taking the tour again for a refresher!
