This 3 hour tour has a nice mix of tastings at local shops and history. You'll definitely want to eat at a restaurant afterwards - there are dozens to choose from - might be good to do some research on that before hand as the tour guides quite sensibly won't recommend. Enjoy!

We were an exended family celebrating the 80th birthday of an Italian-born relative, who himself is a true renaissance man. Michele (Topor) was incredible: knowledgeable, passionate, fun and full of practical information. Our group was made up of men and women of all ages - 40's to 80, and eveyone, without exception, loved the tour and learned a lot. . It was a fabulous way to celebrate a family event by doing something fun and educational on a magificent fall day in Boston's North End.

It was a very fun and unique way to spend the afternoon. I enjoyed the tour and getting an inside look at the North End neighborhood but felt the tickets were a bit on the pricey side.

We have lived in the Boston area for over 30 years and eaten in the North End numerous times. The tour was enjoyable, informative on both a historical and culinary level. We thought we were going to be eating enough throughout the tour to account for a meal so we all skipped lunch prior to the 1:00 tour. It seemed most of the group thought the same thing. The tastings in some of the places were great but don't count on these to satisfy as a meal. Two suggestions I have are regarding the bakery and the green grocer. Maria's was fabulous but I would have preferred the samples after each item was described. By the time we got to taste the baked goods, I forgot what each was. Secondly, I didn't find the stop at the green grocer to be so enlightening. I would have loved to leave the tour with some of the recipes our tour guide talked about. Our afternoon certainly reinforced what a gem the North End is!

Very enjoyable experience over all. Especially liked learning about authentic italian food and customs as compared with Italian-American. A lot to absorb in one tour; maybe fewer stops would be just as good. One wine shop is plenty.

My son lives in the North End and I have always loved being there, but the tour helped me love it even more! Now my 29 year old son wants to take the tour, too. I also learned a lot about the Italian culture and culinary ways which I'll put to use on my trip to Italy next fall. Thanks!

My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves and learned so much. Jim. I believe who was our tour guide, was filled with a wealth of information. He answered all questions and really enlightened us. Would recommend this tour to anyone going to Boston.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. We tasted things we might not have otherwise experienced and certainly went into shops we would have walked past on our own, thus missing a delightful experience. It was a great way to not only see but experience this ethnic neighborhood.

Enjoyed the brief history of the North End area at beginning of tour. Our group had to wait for other group to leave before our group could enter an establishment. Tours seem to be booked too close together. Appreciated information on what items in the bakery were not made in the store. I wanted to purchase items that were made by the owners. Had nice display of samples. Candy store on Salem street was my favorite. Enjoyed knowing the purpose of the candied ginger and that the cinnamon bark helps lower chlorestol. Came back next day to buy the Punkin Pie fudge along with other treats. The spice shop was delightful. Went back next day to purchase some items I saw on the tour. The liquor store gave nice ice cold samples of Lemonchello. Even though I was travelling by plane and liquids are an issue with travel, I did go back next day and purchase a bottle with hopes it would make it home without breaking. My tour guide was Dick Meeley. He was very interesting and I enjoyed his knowledge. I plan on purchasing a gift certificate for my son and his wife who live in the North End. Even though they live there, I thought it would be fun for them to know some of the inside information on the shops.

This tour was the highlight of our trip to Boston. Dick, our tour guide, had just the right amount of facts, and we were able to learn so much about this unique neighborhood. We loved going back to our favorite shops after the tour and purchasing items we can't get at home. Although, we'll never be able to duplicate Maria's Pastries, we are determined to find the perfect biscotti recipe using the Anise Oil we found at another shop in the neighborhood. Very fun!

At first it seemed to be like "oh my" what did I get myself into. That only lasted about 3 minutes and then I found myself listening intently at the knowledge our tour guide had and how so smoothly he was bringing everyone together. Since it was early in the day what better way to start but at a Pastry shop. Samples, simply to die for. Then on to the Butcher shop and General market like I was preparing a meal and knew where to go and get my supplies. Ending the tour at the Wine shopp was Great. It seemed to but the closing on a perfect day and it was only alittle pass 1:00. Great time for us to go and get some lunch and now we knew where to go and what to eat. Would highly recommend this to all, the only opportunity you will find is that you Can't Shop until the End. Bravo!!

We found the tour wonderfully informative. Our guide, Dick, was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the different foods and wines. He even gave us some recipes. The samples of foods we had were also very good. We had a great time and have already recommended this tour to other people. Our friends who did not come along are very disappointed they missed this chance.

Michele was extremely knowledgeable about a wide variety of subjects: Italy, the way Americans eat vs. the way Italians eat, food in general, the neighborhood, the derivation of words, etc. She was lively, provided tons of good information, and was very good natured in answering all the questions that were thrown her way.
