My aunt, mother and cousin took the tour (North End) on Friday the 16th. Great time, learned a lot! Would love more food (Ha!!) I would have liked to have taken the China Town tour with Jim as well. Trip not long enough for both! Good job!

This market food tour exceeded my expectations.

I immensely enjoyed this tour. I am an avid cook and this tour still taught me things about food I never knew. The guide and the local merchants are very knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. There is no way to describe these pocket markets in the north end without experiencing them first hand. I wish there were more food tastings such as salami and more cheese, or maybe homemade pasta or some of the savories from Monica's.

We LOVED this tour. We had participated in several other Zerve tours in the past and decided to book the North End Tour to see if it was as good as the others. It wasn't good, it was better. It was interesting, fascinating, fun and we learnt so much about food, produce and products. Our guide was knowledgeable, informative and we didn't want it to end. It was fantastic!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke distinctly so he was easy to hear. Very nice vendors in the North End. Enjoyed tasting the food items and the tidbits of knowledge that went along with it. Loved hearing about the history of the area as well. Something different and great to do with my sisters who also enjoyed lunch after the tour!!

The food tour was very good and the guide was very informative and knowledgeable. We learned a lot of things from the history of Boston to the Italians who migrated in the North End and the real authentic Italian cheeses, pastries and olive oil. Though we were not from Boston, the tour gave us a memorable experience that we're thinking of coming back and try out the different places in Boston. Thanks for the wonderful tour!!!

A cultural experience and culinary delight

The tour exceeded our expectations and we would recommend it to foodies and history buffs alike. Our guide Jim had a wealth of knowledge about Italian food and the North End. He kept us away from the tourist traps and led us to true culinary gems off the beaten path. After our tour we returned to some of our favorite spots and prepared ourselves an authentic Italian dinner.

I learned more on this tour than I ever imagined possible in three hours. The North End is full of so much history, character and most of all delicious food! I highly recommend this tour.

If you are intrigued by the North End with it's history and various food shops and restaurants, then this is the tour for you. It is just as interesting to people from this area as it would be for a tourist. Learning about the evolution of the North End and the behind the scenes information about Italian food and the local stores is salivating! I am 50 years old and have been to the North End endless times before this tour. I thoroughly enjoyed being educated about the real North End! I haven't stopped talking about it since my return home which is only on the North Shore! Take your friends and make it a fun group activity for a day. You will learn about the do's and don'ts involving eating and serving Italian food and drink. Really spectacular. A true Italian guilt trip! ha

I enjoyed learning about the area and the food. The best part of the tour is the tastings! We went back to several stops along the tour and purchased various items. I very much enjoyed the day.

I cannot say enough about this tour. We did the North End tour last Summer and decided we would do the Chinatown tour this Summer. We took our friends with us. JIm knows so much about Chinese cuisine and Chinatown in general. He was a great tour guide for both this tour and the North End tour. Learned so much and tried so many things I have never tried before. My husband said he is no longer intimidated to go to Chinatown anymore and wants to go back soon. My friends have been raving about it since we finished the tour last week. They have recommended it to quite a few people already. I want to go back and visit the fabulous pharmacy we went to and the bakery next door. We will do the North End tour again next Summer and our friends have said they want to come along. If you are thinking about doing this tour....do it you won't regret it.

The tour guide Jim set the tone in the beginning with his statement to go out of your comfort zone. Had he not said that I am not sure I would have been as willing to try different things. The amount of history he provided was perfect. He interacted very well with the local Chinese community and us his customer. Prior to attending I had no expectation at all. I was very pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the day.

We just went on the North End and the Chinatown tours in Boston. Both were excellent! The guide, Jim, was super knowledgeable and gave us a great experience. This is the third city we have done tours with Zerve and have been completely satisfied. We will absolutely use Zerve again in the future.

Fun Culinary Trip Throught the North End
Fri, Sep 9, 11   10:00 AM deastwood Female 40-49 Local Group of Friends
My yoga buddies and I take a few "field trips" every year and the North End Tour was our pick for this past Friday. We had a wonderful time and our guide Jim was very knowledgeable and a great guide. We really liked how he offered not only his expertise on the food and eating habits of Italians vs. Italian Americans but a wonderful history of the area which was new to all of us. The food tastes were perfect and really yummy. We will go back and visit many of the shops again and bring home some more of the foods we tasted. Some of the food knowledge and what is considered authentic could be a little preachy at times but all in all a very enjoyable tour. Plan on doing the Chinatown tour sometime in the future.
