Fabulous Tour

| This tour was wonderful. Jim gave us so much interesting history about the North End, Italian cuisine, and the many wonderful North End shops. I've lived in Boston for two years, go to the North End frequently, and still never knew that most of these places existed. Although the tour will likely appeal to many tourists, it's almost better for locals who have the ability to return to these great shops and take advantage of all that great information passed along during the tour. | ||||||

Informative Market Tour with Miniscule Tastings

| The tour guide's presentation was excellent providing very interesting North End history and food facts. The tour was scheduled for 1:00 and since we had to commute during the lunch hour we didn't have time for lunch. We were informed NO SHOPPING during tour and food samplings were not enough to hold us over. An espresso/snack break would have helped alleviate our hunger or possibly some bread with the tiny spoonfuls of olive and balsamic vinegar at the salumeria. A food tour in the Italian North End with no food ......not recommended. | ||||||

Surprising review of North End

| Having already done the Freedom Trail and learned some about the North End, I was surprised about the knowledge I learned from this tour. Even being a local, I was unaware of surprises shown in small back alleys off the major tourists paths. This tour will take you into the Mom & Pop stores down back side streets, not just the places on Hanover like most tours do. | ||||||

| I’m a teacher, my husband is a foodie, and we just loved this tour. We have recommended it to several friends as an enjoyable way to spend together, without the kids. The guide was very personable and provides an interesting historical background to the cultures that have shaped the North End neighborhoods. I highly recommend this tour as way to get to know a little about the neighborhood and the many elements that influence Italian cooking. | ||||||

| What a great tour! Our group was 12 (a nice number). We would have never visited on our own the small places we were introducted to on our little journey through the North End. We went back the next day and purchased some goodies to take home. The bakery and the Italian deli were the best! Thanks for the entertaining 3 hours. Art and Karen Phoenix, AZ | ||||||

| We were a group (small) of 2 men and 1 lady. There would have been another lady but she was ill (much to her disappointment). We found the tour thoroughly entertaining and our guide, Jim, was very knowlegeable about all the aspects of Italian history, culture, food, customs and the like. We ladies were a little worried that the our husbands might not like the tour as well as we thought we would ..... but, everyone that participated in the tour had a wonderful time -- didn't want it to end. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Boston or natives, for that matter, As a matter of fact of friend of mine, who is a native Bostonian, recommended this tour and I can't thank her enough. Thanks for a great Boston experience! Pam Armanino | ||||||

| Went on Michele Topor tour of Little Italy. Jim (retired Chef) was the tour guide, he was excellent. Did everything as advertised. Learned history of area and felt like a native. When we went back to the stores to purchase foods, they remembered us from the tour. I would highly recommend this to all. | ||||||

| As a local who spends a good deal of time in the North End during the summer, this tour expanded my knowledge of this part of Boston. Our guide was very personable and knowledgeable, and although I am familiar with all the places he took us, he did have some new and interesting info about the places or their goods. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I am looking forward to taking the China Town tour next. I hope I can get the same guide. | ||||||

| Our tour guide's name was Raymond. He did a pretty good job considering he's only been doing this since the Spring. The tour was very informative! We really enjoyed ourselves. We learned a lot about the North End and Italian culture/food. We fell in love with the North End! We went back to the shops after the tour ended and shopped our hearts away. I did feel that some of the shop owners were annoyed by us being there (ahem, liquor store)--although we're potential customers and they should treat us as such. I thought there was going to be MORE food samples which I encourage them to do. Those were really the only negatives and we highly recommend! | ||||||

9/6/08 Boston Chinatown Walking tour-EXCELLENT

| The tour guide, Jim, was excellent. He was so knowledgeable and an excellent speaker and guide. He studied Asian history, lived in China, speaks the language, is a chef and owned his own restaurant so knows the different foods - what more could you ask for in a tour guide. There were plenty of samplings of food that we might never have tried on our own. At the end we had a Dim Sum lunch - Jim would explain the different foods we were eating and what other foods were being served. He also explained the etiquette of eating/serving. I would highly recommend this tour - taking this tour you get a better understanding of the Chinese lifestyle. | ||||||

| This tour added a lot to my knowledge of the Chinese/Asian American culture here in Boston, and gave me the opportunity to try a variety of Chinese foods I might not have risked ordering on my own. Our guide Jim was fun to be with and pleasant to listen to. It was a most enjoyable morning. The list of restuarants and shops, and "take out" box of candies were nice to bring home. I'll definitely be sampling the restaurants! | ||||||
