Michelle gives much information on the North End, the Italian culture and the food of the North End. As a couple who enjoys the historical information and particurlarly the information on the cuisine, we cannot overstate our enjoyment of this tour. Michelle is informative and entertaining. We recommend this tour wholeheartedly.

Fantastic highlight of the best the North End has to offer. Very knowledgable guide was able to tell us about the history and culture of the area in addition to teaching us about Italian cuisine. Take the morning tour so you have ample time to explore the shops and restaurants afterward.
Rating: 5 Awesome, want to do the tour again!

We were a little nervous about a three hour walking tour, but since we are from the local area, felt that if it was too much walking in the heat, we could just end the tour when and where we wanted. We are familiar with the North End, and have eaten at many restaurants. However, the tour was fabulous, we gained new insights to the North End, learned a LOT about the local foods, wines, oils, deli, and produce. It was a great way to spend an afternoon feeling like a local. It is only a seven minute walk, never very far from the next stop, and very well worth it! The tour guide was informative and fun, and we never felt like there was a dull spot! We noticed that we were the oldest members of the group and the average age was 30...all you baby boomers out there can do this tour! It is not three hours of solid walking! Lots of stops, lots of samples and lots of fun!

The tour was relaxing, fun, more info then I thought Id use. I wasnt interested in taking notes but I was wrong ! We've already put into use a few of the tips Michele gave us. I wish we could have snuck in a few purchases along the way, although I understand why we couldnt. The North End is another place that when you visit you wish you could stay and the tour, you wish wasnt over. We are back home in California and already reading labels ! Thanks !

I was visiting in Boston and had heard about this tour. For me, it was fascinating since I really haven't had much exposure to Italian markets, bakeries, neighborhoods, etc. Also I had walked the Freedom Trail previously, but otherwise had not explored the North End and had not gone into any of the shops along the way before this tour. I enjoyed going into the various businesses very much. I thought it was a good variety, and very informative. Unfortunately, I had booked the tour the same day I was flying back to Houston so I did not have time to go back to visit all of the shops after the completion of the tour. It would be nice if you could shop as you went along, but then it would be a 6 hour tour instead of 3 hours. I think anyone would enjoy this tour, but those who don't have a local Italian neighborhood should find it especially interesting. And don't miss out on going to lunch in one of the local restaurants!! We picked Artu, and it was absolutely fabulous! I'll definitely go back there for another meal next time I'm in the area.

Our tour guide took us to a variety of stores in the North End where we sampled fantastic foods; we learned the history of the area; we got tips on storing and buying foods. We learned what was truly Italian and what was Italian-American. He could answer any question we had. The three hours flew by!

4 California women We really enjoyed this tour. Michele made it so fun. We learned a lot. We went back to almost every store and bought something. It reminded me a little of San Francisco's North Beach. We are considering the tour of Italy. Fun, fun!

We really enjoyed our tour of the North End. Dick was a fantastic tour guide. His knowledge of the North End, Italy, and food far exceeded our expectations. My mother is visiting for the summer for California and is already signed up to go in. I can't wait to go into the North End again. Thank you!

We decided to take my Dad on this tour as a Father's Day gift. It's a perfect gift (your time) for someone who has everything. He hasn't stopped talking about it since! I was extremely happy with the North End Market tour. Having lived in the Boston area all of my life, I took away a lot of fun facts and interesting North End trivia that I never knew before the tour. Michelle is extremely knowledegable and passionate about Italy, Italian culture, Italian-American culture, food and drink. She had me hanging on her every word! After the tour, we went back to the different markets and bought some of the items we sampled. Everything was fantastic!
Rating: 5 everything as advertised and more!

This was an impressive tour given by a local "North Ender" who was also a chef himself! We got an overview of the neighborhood and its history, and a little history about Italian cuisine. The best part of all, of course, was being led to great little shops and sampling the food and beverages. Two thumbs up for this tour!

I am a foodie who was interested in this tour b/c it was "behind the scenes." It's not. It's a long, boring tour of the North End with very little history and food. In fact, the tour takes you to places that traditionally give samples anyway...so there is no real advantage. At each location, he literally points out everything on the shelves: "this is pasta, this is olive oil, etc." Oh my goodness...I debated leaving 1/2 through, but at ~$50 each the tickets were too much of an investment to walk away. (Other people on the tour did.) If you want to see the North End, you are better of using your guidebook or doing Boston By Foot - which is only $10.

Our tour guide was friendly and very informative. The tour began with a great overview of the North End's history up through the present day and I enjoyed the variety of shops and anecdotes included in the tour. The tour truly helped me capture the "old world" feel of a tight-knit neighborhood in the middle of a bustling city. Even though our tour took place on a Friday morning Hanover Street was very crowded and I quickly learned where the real North End exists (not on Hanover Street)! The shopkeepers of the stores we visited were all very friendly and welcoming of our tour. I have enthusiastically recommended the tour to many people already and will continue to do so. Loved it!!!
