Fantastic experience! North End Market Tour

My brother and I did this tour on a blustery, misty afternoon, but the information and wisdom imparted by our tour guide was not dampened in the least. Jim (our tour guide) was friendly, knowledgeable, and impressive as he guided us through Boston's North End. I came home with a wealth of information about cooking authentic Italian food, and also about the North End's colored history. We tasted our way through the neighborhood, and it ended way too soon. I would enthusiastically recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in history, cooking, and/or eating delicious food.

This tour was fantastic. Our guide did a great job explaining not only the food/culture but the history of the area. It ended with a meal of dim sum with our guide that was delicious and enjoyable.

This tour started on time, and the tour guide actively engaged participants for the full three hours. I learned so much, enjoyed the historical discussions and very much enjoyed the visited merchants. I returned to the bakery for another treat. My husband and I ate in a suggested restaurant afterward and really enjoyed the meal. I would eagerly take this tour again if we return to visit Boston.

It was one of the best tours I've ever done. Even if you don't live in Boston, we got great tips as to what to look out for when buying various products and most of the stores we went to will actually send you the stuff by ordering it online or over the phone. Absolutely perfect!!!!

Michele gives a light and lively look at area history and weaves it into her very enjoyable tour. You don't have to be a great cook or connoisseur to enjoy this close up look at all the great Italian food and beverages in the North End.

I found Michele's tour a couple of years ago while travelling with my husband on a business trip. I loved it and on this trip to Boston, we extended our stay and brought more friends from NH on the trip. My husband already wants to take it again. Michele provides, both history of the North end and Italy as well as extended culinary knowledge. We were still talking about it days later and returned to some of the establishments visited during the tour to purchase food items for our trip home and even took her suggestions on dining. Low-key afternoon with tons of information North End Market Tour

My boyfriend and I enjoyed the tour very much. The North End is just beautiful and being there in the afternoon, before it gets really busy, is nice. Our tour guide, Beth, did a great job, was very knowledgeable and told us some great stories about the year she spent living in Italy.

Enjoyed our tour with Beth very much. We got off the main street of the North End and visited some of the other shops, etc we had not been too. We went back to one of the places for a sub later and it was really good! We then went to another restaurant the next night she recommended. Great choices!

As part of a surprise birthday get away weekend for my sister-in-law, I treated her, my brother and my husband to the North End Market Tour. It was my third time on the tour and I woud go again and again and again. They all loved the tour and found it fun, exciting, informative and oh so delicious! We are all eager to go back to discover more hidden gems amongst the narrow streets of the North End. It is truly an experience that everyone should take advantage of. After the tour, we returned to several of the shops to purchase everything from figs to coffee to Greek oregano to ravioli and rum cakes. I am a much more knowledgable consumer of Italian food since the tour. I can tell a female eggplant from a male eggplant!

Great Experience! Boston Chinatown Market Tour

Having already been on a tour of the North End with Michelle, I had high expectations for the Chinatown tour. My husband and I greatly enjoyed our tour with Jim. We found him to be well-spoken, knowledgeable, and fun. After a short lecture about Chinese history and immmigration in Boston (and a discussion of why what most Americans consider Chinese food really isn't and how it came to be), we set off to try Chinese BBQ, visit 2 bakeries (one for sweets and one for bubble tea), a Chinese herb shop, a grocery store, and a tea/antique shop. The last stop was for dim sum...great experience and so nice to have someone to guide us through the etiquette involved. Jim was even kind enough to return to the grocery store with us to locate an unusual ingredient found in the Chinese BBQ we had sampled earlier. Make sure you bring a canvas shopping bag and a camera with you because you are going to want to take photos and do some shopping after the tour is over! We look forward to the next tour!!
Tour guide was knowledgeable,however, expected mor North End Market Tour

A group of four friends went on Saturday, 9:00am tour. The guide tour was knowledgeable and we enjoyed the history he shared of Boston. The entry to the variety of pastries, wines, food stores was also good. I believe there should have been a little something at the end of the tour, prehaps a pasta dish with meats, cheeses, dessers from the various places we toured. For $50+ each, Pasta is cheap, just thought it would have added much and then you could have sad this cheese is from the store we visited, etc with cheese. Otherwise, good.
