This was the second time that we took the tour. We had so much fun the first time we had to do it again! It is so informative that three hours goes by in a blink!! I recommend going with a few Italians and you will have the time of your life!!!!!

A tour in search of more content

Can be improved. Jim the tour guide was very good, including his opening remarks.. However, the scope of the tour is limited and prolonged in destinations that did not require such detailed information. The limitations did not provide a sense of the qualities of the North End.

Interesting and Informative

I am a foodie and thought I knew alot. But the tour was so informative I found myself learning tons of new things. It was fun to see the "hidden" little places which were off the main tourist drag. The 3 hours just flew by. Tour guide was very good at describing and explaining things. I really wanted to be able to buy items at the differents stops. I understand why it would be hard, but maybe the tour could be extended timewise and allow for that? (with the understanding that it had to be done quickly)

First, Jim, our guide was really great. We got so much more than we anticipated. Wonderful history of the North End, enjoyed the stores we visited and the food discussions from those stores plus JIm's great lecture on olive oil, cheese and balsamic vinegar. Have already recommended it to people. We are ready to take the Chinatown tour. Also, I and 2 friends took the same tour probably about 11-12 years ago with Michelle as our guide. I'm so glad to know she has been able to continue this. Sandy and Bill Givens

Interesting, educative, and tasty

This was an excellent tour with an excellent guide. The guide was very knowledgeable having been a chef in a previous life. He also had excellent communication skills and was very enthusiastic. The tour include snippets of history, Italian culture and, of course, lots of information on Italian foods and cuisine. The stops along the way were varied and of high quality. The only downside was the absence of a bathroom stop. It is well documented in the publicity that there is not one, but it would make the tour more pleasant for people of a certain age. I did a great Chicago food tour last year and there is a bathroom stop as part of the itinerary. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in cooking or Italian cuisine.

North End Shop Tour-Real Delight- Guide fabulous!

The tour guide was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He does this day in and out and often multiple times a day but he treated us like we were very important and gave us history of the area and shared the glories of the Italian food with humor, information, and taste tests. A great tour! It covered around 3 blocks. I forgot to tip him and I felt so bad because he was a very good guide and tour director and deserved a very good tip. It was an absolutely wonderful tour and he was GREAT!!!

Tour and after purchases

Yes - I would recommend this tour - we love going to the North End at least annually, but have never visited the places that we went to this weekend. The 'tastes' were yummy. It was so refreshing to know that shopping in the North End is not outrageously expensive - Polcari coffee and the Green Grocer and Monica's 'store' (can't remember which one it was)- quality stores. My only disappointment was my purchase at Maria's after the tour. I requested 18 mini canolis with yellow cream filling. When I went to serve the canolis that evening, they were filled with ricotta. Now that may be fine for most, but for my crowd that evening, it was a disappointment. So I'll go back to the Modern - never a problem there. Thank you

What a terrific way to spend an afternoon. Tour was incredibly informative, filling and fun. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to explore the North End of Boston, and anyone interested in Italian food. Much of the information can be taken back to your local stores to make more informed and better purchases. Highly recommended.

Our guide was very informative, not only about the North End, but about Italian cuisine in general. We (almost) weren't hungry for lunch after enjoying the delectable tastings during the 3 hours. Would recommend this tour for locals as well as visitors to Boston, as it is a great way to see and experience the North End.

This tour is one of the best food tours Ive done. The fact that our tour guide was a chef for a long time added a great layer to the overall experience. Our guide was not only informative about the area but exceptionally knowledgeable about local and world foods. I learned so much about the historical aspects of the North End and tasted such wonderful culinary delights. If I ever visit Boston again, I would definitely do the Chinatown tour. I highly recommend this. I've been to Boston 3x now and this is by far the best thing Ive done in the city.
