Review of Whale Watching Tour
Mon, Dec 29, 08   9:00 AM rj_bernst Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We enjoyed the whale watching but thought that the marine biologist accopanying the tour could have spoken more and been more informative. Also, the quality of the sound system made it difficult to hear what was being said. We did a tour previously with another tour company and saw many humpback whales. This tour we really did not see any whales and it felt like we were being rushed.

Always fun to see...

There are so many variables with whale watching; the weather, the time of year for migrations, and remembering warm gear. We were happily surprised by the great weather, we were pleased we remembered our gloves and hats, and while we did see several whales at a distance, we wished we could have seen more, but it was early in the season.

This was a Christmas trip for my daughter who is studying to become a Marine Biologist. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the pod of Grey Whales we spotted. Our timing wasn't the best in planning this trip (had to schedule it around my daughter's school schedule) so there weren't a lot of whales but enough to give us the thrill of a lifetime! Being in between the migration times left us limited chances but the crew was WONDERFUL and spotted the whales before any of us on deck did. The experience and "teaching" they provided about the whales was enough to make us ask more questions. We would both recommend this adventure for the young and old!!! We spotted Grey Whales, Sea Otters, lots of Sea Lions and tons of Jelly Fish. Oh and lots of different birds too! We have already decided to go back in the summer to see more. Everyone was friendly, knowledgable and helpful during every part of our trip, from purchasing the tickets to boarding the boat. Thanks so much for the great once in a life time experience! Everyone should give this a try!!!

The trip out to see was half the fun with big swells...the boat rocking up and down...it felt like a roller coaster...fun. Saw a couple of whales but from a distance. It would have been nice if the skipper got us closer, but am not sure if it's against the law to get closer to them.

This trip had a small group with lots of room to move around and see what we came to see. We saw four humpback whales--two of them surfaced five times while we were there. We saw porpoises running along with the boat and dozens of dolphins. We even saw a jellyfish and some strange round white fish (sunfish?). It was very much worth the cost and I would do it again and again!

Worth all the small problems

This trip was fantastic. It was a birthday gift for my friend and we both loved it. We arrived about 45 minutes early to find that the trip was being delayed about 45 minutes while the boat came back. It wasn't that bad to wait. The sun was shining and some of the smaller stores on the wharf were fun to look at. Getting on board finally, we chose our sitting spot on the far side of the boat from the dock. 5 minutes from the dock, we lost the sunshine and out came the jackets. Traveling to the spot where they'd seen whales that morning seemed to take forever but the ocean wasn't too bad and the information coming over the loudspeaker was interesting to listen to. We finally got to the spot and yes, there were humpback whales out there. The boat was kept pretty much facing them head on so the few of us who had been ill on the way out didn't get to see them that much. It was safer not to move just yet. Luckily for us, the whales moved almost directly in front of our side of the boat and gave us one heck of a show, with lots of blows and tail flukes showing. We also had plenty of visits from the porpoises, something we were told didn't happen too often. They were all over the front of the boat and right next to my side of the boat so I got to see plenty of them. My friend used the video capability of his camera to film them. It really was thrilling. It seemed way too soon when the boat had to turn around and head back to the dock. The greatest thing was, we ran into dolphins on our way back and those of us who were still outside were treated to quite a show. All in all, this trip was worth the longish drive from my friend's home, the coolness because of the fog, and the upset stomach. I'd do it again in a heartbeat and plan to later this year. Thanks for a great experience!

I really recommend this company to go whale watching. Everyone was so incredibly nice and answered all of my questions. I especially liked the marine biologists who narrated for us. She took such a great excitement explaining everything to us. We had a wonderful time and it was definitely an experience of a lifetime. Only kudos is they didn't have snacks on board very limited so make sure you bring your own beverages and snacks.

We did the whale watch excursion in the zodiac on May, 25th 2008 in the afternoon. That day we had incredible beautiful weather and although we had sunscreen on we all got burned in our faces but this faded away in all the excitement we experienced by witnessing a big pack of whales aslo known as the K-group. They swam past us a couple of times and some also jumped from joy out of the water which doesn't occure regularly. We had a very experienced guide who knew a lot of the animals and their surrounding and managed to sail in front of the whales a couple of times. After a few hours and a little bit later then anticipated because the site of the whales was so great we returned to the harbour with a lot of excited pictures. The captain took a few big waves so we had a spectaculair ride back.
