| it was a really beautiful day. everyone on the tour and running the tour were very nice and answered any questions we had.
my only problem was unless you had a very expensive telephoto lens you couldn't really get any pictures. we did see 2 or 3 single whales, and one pod of 5 or 6. i understand we can't bother them, but we were so far away you could barely see them, let alone take pictures. it was fun, in fact we're going back later in the spring when the humpbacks come. |

| The trip was perfect, the staff knowledgeable, and the weather was breathtaking. They were respectful of the whales space and at the same time working to give us the best views possible. The perfect balance. We loved every moment of it and the events of the trip have been lingering in our conversation for days. |

| The whale watching excursion was better than we had imagine. We saw well over 30 whales and the narrative from the naturalist on board made the experience even more worthwhile. We purchased our tickets early through Zerve and we didn't have to wait in line or try to choose another time. |

| I decided to take my boyfriend on a trip to Monterey for the weekend. I knew he loved the aquarium so I thought a whale watch would be a nice surprise for him, and boy was I right! He absolutely loved it! I've never seen him get so excited as when we started spotting whales. YEAH that's right we actually spotted some! Not only that but we got pretty close! I've been on other whale watches and I've never been this close before. It was great! We had a wonderful time and the crew was fantastic. Very informative. I'm not sure if this is normal or we just got lucky, but we had a pretty small tour group, so there was plenty of room, not like the other cruises where 300 people are packed onto a tiny vessel and no one can see. I highly recommend this to everyone. It's a great way to spend an afternoon :) |

| No one in my group had ever whale watched before so the experience was particularly new, fresh and exciting. The first waterspout was sighted minutes after exiting the bay. It was a small spout but because we had never seen one before, we all gasped in amazement. The most exciting part was when we got very close to a whale. With the unaided eye, we could see the barnacles and other crustaceans on the surface of the whale. I snapped a picture of the fluke when the whale decided to dive. The picture turned out great and I felt like a professional photographer for a day. It was a great experience. |

| We greatly enjoyed our trip on the Pacific Explorer. The crew was friendly, the naturalist interesting, everything happened on time -- and we saw *lots* of whales! Six to eight at a time. Our visitor from the Midwest was thrilled. |

| We went on a Saturday and really enjoyed the trip. The Crew really did a good job finding the whales and explaining what the whales were doing. Aside from the whales this trip is a good way to see Monterey Bay! |

| I typically take a few freinds whale watching in Monterey every January. I have been riding with the "Monterey Whale Watching" team for the past 25 years. There must be 3-4 other outfits running whale trips, but I can say from experience the Moneterey Whale Watching team has the best boats (I go back to the Top-Gun and Magnum Force days) and the best crew and staff on the wharf. This past trip (Jan 10th) we saw about 20 Grey Whales, many very close to the boat without disturbing these oceangoing behemoths.
To watch the wonder and excitement first-timers or children display when they spot there first Cetacea is worth the price alone..... spouts and flukes abound, and the weather was sunny and calm.
Great team, and convenient web-based ticketing program. If you never have been whale watching - get out there, they should be at their peak migration right about now !! |
